Episode 250 - Tradigital art - Digital VS Traditional
Dec 21, 2015
There's not really a difference between digital and traditional art - art is art, your tools and media don't really matter, what's important is how its meant to be seen and what it's meant to be used for. But, people do like to discuss this though and so do we so that is exactly what we did! We opened the floor to people's opinions and experiences on the subject and everyone had their say. Gunwallace's theme for The Dragon Fists of Smorty Smythe reminds me strongly of The Journey of the Sorcerer by The Eagles!

Stylus, tablets, screens... all lead to the dark side... not really... I agree that digital and physical media are just tools... you can mix, and match, as much (or as little) as you wish...

In reality there's really no distinction. The dividing line is artificial. You have more of a fading gradient from analogue art to digital. Just consider: as soon as art is displayed on a modern screen that is a digital representation. Then you have to think about how much of that representation was intentional: maybe a video was just taken without any artist input (no intent), or maybe the artist had professional photos done... In that case it's more intentional. Everything is digital now, it's not just CG art or things done with a stylus.

So... is Pit a digital artist or no?...

It seems many use a hybrid of both. Whatever works and whatever's at hand, mang.
