Well, my life isn't any more stable these days but hopefully I'll be able to put out more pages a better pace. I have to sort through a lot of things, Super Temps included. But at least it's nice proof that it's not dead. The water effects took awhile and my computer crashed so they're not as nice as the ones I was working on originally in my opinion, but since I'm just going off of memory who knows how true that actually is.
@Mina_Lunga: Yeah, the pacing is bad on this one but I was tired of delaying the action. But yeah, they did just stand there and wait for Skully to say her piece, because Skully wasn't quite sure where they are -- just that they're there. So the dark-water-hand thing was their reaction, and it was mostly just for show because Hydro rarely EVER gets to use his powers and they synergize with Grace's abilities to make them scarier -- that's not just a huge hand made up of cold, cold lake water but it will also absorb energy around it, making it so Skully can't fire her skull buster, High Voltage can't use ANY of his electrical abilities (except speed), and it interferes with Iron's equipment. Mr. Evil is actually hanging back and acting as a ref. The dangerous thing about the dark water synergy is the fact that it's still a big ol' mass of water meaning Hydro can brush people aside without hurting them.
@Darls Chickens: People are creatures of habit, and often even if it's not what the audience wants, it's what the decision-makers in the industry think they want, so sometimes stupid things continue to get done because at one time they were cool.
This particular battle is "closed set" meaning there's security to keep civilians out because there's a high chance of someone getting hurt or killed if they interfere or otherwise are standing where nobody's expecting them. Lower-threat scripted battles can take place in the streets or public places; people are expected to stay out on their own -- and the laws are such that it's not possible to sue. (Injured civilians still get 100% medical coverage, wage compensation and a percentage of the profits from the episode they were in... because it sells better)
One of the things I wanted to do with the Super Temps reboot is actually include social media streaming as the action was happening.
Lovely water swirls! I'm with the rest on the pacing, though - it's just a little too fast and disjointed, since it wasn't obvious where everyone was standing or what was going on. Did they just stand there and wait for Skully to walk up and say her piece? Were they really trying to teleport her somewhere? But yay for a new page!
So these tropes aren't regarded as worn-out cliches, but as proven audience pleasers that work every time? That's what I get for never watching WWE. Then somebody must be monitoring the audience and advising our players in real time about which way the social media tide is trending. (When I checked back, the spam banner on this very page was for a hair clog eliminator, no lie. i57.tinypic.com/ace8ly.jpg *snerk* again.)
@Darls Chickens: In the reality of the WWE (formerly World Wrestling Federation), the matches are pretty improvisational, even though they have a set winner. The wrestlers have to pay attention to the crowd and use subtle cues as to what moves they're going to do in order to put on the best show possible. In an unscripted battle, the only difference is that there's no designated winner -- the participants are still expected to put on a big show. Again, it's why unscripted battles are usually reserved for seasoned professionals. It's why Kat is so upset, and why everyone (whether they've vocalized it or not) is suspicious of the whole set-up. I've already hinted that Kim's already purchased some 'insurance' to make sure things run smoothly.
Wet hair pseudopods? That is cool.
Children, didn't they cover this in 101? When your opponent stands out there in front of the cameras and yells, "Bring it!" they're ready for the direct charge, the sneak-up-behind, and the both-at-once.
Welcome back. (*snerk* Hydro kept the braid.)
@Darius Drake: My fault for skimping on the background, but there's enough shipping containers that would allow Skully to move pretty freely once out of line of sight. Also, she's a ninja.
@ecchi_kitty: No, you didn't miss anything -- that was the retort to Skully's entrance. I guess I should have paced things better.
** @fallopiancrusader: Yup! Will try to do better about updates in the future.

Where did Skully go? Shouldn't it be obvious that she's behind those packaging crates? I mean, there isn't much else to hide behind.
ecchi_kitty at 5:00AM, Feb. 22, 2014
Actually, I did miss Skully's entrance. Or else forgot it. I'm not as good at keeping up on things as I like to pretend.

Supertemps is back! WooHoo!

Update! Squee! ...now to cycle back a little to remind myself what's going on... get the impression I missed an update somewhere.
