in reference to this page, I think that all the commercials we see asking for money for children in Africa to some extent hinders Africa more than it helps. For many being raised in our Western-centric world, these commercials represent the majority of their exposure to what Africa “is,” which leads to misconceptions that people like my unnamed relative have, that all of Africa is poor, living in huts, and something for the benevolent Western world to pity. I think we might have talked about that in class…
They do have cities, they do have skyscrapers, television, happy families. The number of hunter-gathering tribes still left are severly limited.

But if you tell people not all of Africa is like that, they won't give as much money. I'm not praising it, but that's clearly the angle the commercial-makers are coming from here.

This is getting good :D! You are very brave and very compassionate about the subject pertaining to racial issues :3. It's a subject that gets pushed to the back burner 90% of the time. We as a people can't expect for things to get better one day if we fail to first confront the problem for what it is, head on :3

It's hard to sum up in a tiny panel or multiple panels, it was an entire test when I took physical anthro... so if it interests you, look into it.
