I know… I know… Some expected (maybe even preferred) another battle to the death!! But, while that might've been more satisfying, there's quite few downsides to that!
1) Kimber Lee feels she'd likely win a duel between her and Jack, but there is the small chance she could lose…
2) No matter who wins, LOTS of collateral damage and death is almost a given…
3) If Jack fled instead of fought, and manages to get away for any length of time, he could follow through on threats to those Kimber Lee loves…
3) Not only would Jack's secret be exposed, Kimber Lee's would be as well - The Godstrain would be revealed to the world! As of this time, very little good could come of that…
4) A cooperative Jack Caleb really would be incredibly useful to her
So… sometimes it might really be better to deal with the devil!!
Sure, Jack could might break the deal at some future point (or undermine in such a way as to not be technical lying), but as of this very moment, Kimber Lee senses that he's genuine. Any future drama surrounding that is fodder for a Godstrain II (should that happen).
When did Kimber Lee glimpse All of Reality? - back on Page 338!
So, next page (due Tuesday, June 20) Kimber Lee will deal with another ‘loose end’, and we'll find out exactly what she got Jack to do for her…

Yeah... I've seen similar happen in movies and novels - it does tend to end badly... Kimber Lee's superhuman, but inside, still human... Maybe one day we shall see what ramifications transpire!!!

I like this better than a big fight. It just makes more sense for Kim to push him to work behind the scenes on her behalf! She would only want another big fight if she HAD to. Meanwhile, I'm pondering what other thing she wants from Jack. What if they're playing "Heart and Soul" as a duet on piano on the next page? That'd be weird! xD
