FRIDAY NEWSPOST - Hippie Van: Lost Webcomics Detective

In which I put on my Nancy Drew outfit and search out deleted webcomics and their creators!

Locoma (of Anti Featured) recently suggested that I do a newspost about those mysterious webcomics whose archives are deleted and which disappear forever. I couldn't think of very many on my own, so I thought it might be more fun to spread this out a bit and you guys can leave suggestions!

This week I picked one that I had wanted to feature in my Completed Webcomics Newspost, only to find that all its pages had been deleted: Manifestations by Raffaele_Ienco, who also did Devoid of Life (also deleted).

This was a pretty easy one to find, because Raffaele Ienco appears to have gone into the professional comic making business!
Both Devoid of Life (buy here) and Raffaele's other comic Epic Kill (buy here) have gone to print. Manifestations was apparently released as a digital-only comic by Top Cow on the website Comixology, and can be found here for $4.99.

He has apparently been working on a number of other comic projects as well, including doing the inks for some issues of The Fantastic Four!

A very happy ending indeed! I like to hope that this is what happens to all comic creators who leave DD. :)

You're right... I remember Tweebus, a very creative guy with strange art. And Chewdy with "Y?"!!!! Wow, we may WELL ask "WHY?" :(

OMG you're awesome Hippie Van! It's just so great to read you guys have comics you really miss too. I have too many comics that vanished forever in my mind, but there are two of them I searched high and low many times over the years expecting them to come back. One of them is "YQuestionmark" of the author Chewdy. He had many comics that vanished ("Blown A wish" too) and I read in 2008 that he had pulled them out from the web to pursue selling them to a publisher, but never heard anything else about it. The other one is "Tweebus" (both author and comic), which rage quit Drunkduck circa 2008, because of some internet drama involving people pretending to be hawt girls just to gather more comic visits. It's really fun to see a post about this! You guys made my day :D

I second shastab24 - except I was lucky enough to have actually read parts of Hellfire. If I'd known it was gonna disappear, I might have tried reading it more quickly though :/ Hellfire was written and drawn by MonkeyMafia, who also made "The Boy and the Jar" and "1 Dollar", which I think has been featured on the duck: http://www.theduckwebcomics.com/user/MonkeyMafia

A deleted webcomic I would have loved to have read was Hellfire. The artist was obviously good (if his Heroes Unite pages are anything to go by) and it would have been nice to see more of the happenings in the HUniverse.

Congrats to haephestus! Good detective work there. There have been a few webcomics I've known that have disappeared like that... Annoying when they were on my feature shortlist!

Seems to happen a bit amongst adult comics. Some that I could find the names of were The Adventures of Nood, Jessicas Adventure, Fay Goop, and Hentai. Hentai was also one that briefly came back under a different name then vanished again.
