Well it took a bit of work but I fixed some mistakes and got this under the size limit so enjoy the update as I intended it. Still I don't know what I'm going to do in future, this size limit is going to cramp Charby's usual extra long update. I just hope I don't have to go back and edit any of my old pages because I won't be able to upload fixes to many of those since they are way over DD's size limit due to being many “standard” pages long. I love drunk duck and by no means is this me demanding a higher limit,I just wanted to vent, plain and simple! My apologies for the mistakes on the page, I fixed them up now. Been a stressful week for me with production problems and the usual, you know how it goes.
And since it needs mentioning, the DD awards winners are being announced, be polite and gracious guys! I don't expect to win anything, but you shouldn't act up when I don't. I'm up against some very talented people and it shouldn't be a shock that the judges choose a comic that's better than mine in any category. please try not to complain about it there, it makes the winner feel bad and makes CTV fans look bad!
While I appreciate the input, you seem to be unaware that I've been on DD for over 6 years now and may know a thing or two about the site and what goes on in the background.
So? It's not like you're entitled to anything, or have a right to dismiss people because you've been here a long time.
I'm aware that DD is a free site and blah blah free service, don't complain. but even Smackjeeves has a max file size limit of 5mb. Granted, it's with payed service, but DD dropped that with the relaunch, so we're all getting equal service, righto?
You pretty much said it, it's a free service so we should be greatful the limit isn't honestly any lower. If you want more flexibility then expect to pay for it. I'm not advocating leaving Drunk Duck either, it's really simple to get around the file size problems.
If you're saying they should leave then, well, you're proving the point, see? :D
I was pretty much saying: don't complain because it wont do you any good and Drunk Duck isn't going to bend for your needs and desires. You yourself even said you had no problem with the limit until it was an inconvenience to you:
Yeah, you'd like to think that 2mb is a perfectly suitable size limit until your own comic can't be loaded to the site because it's a teeny bit over, and no amount of coaxing will get the file size below 2 mb without making it look like garbage. I didn't spend an entire week, have to throw out panels of art i spent hours on because they weren't good enough, and work with a throbbing pain in my hand for me to have to butcher it just to get it on this site

So, what I must point out is that wasn't a "DD sucks and I'm leaving over a petty issue!" complaint, it was an "I have a throbbing cyst in my hand and a migraine and a blister on my finger and I spent an entire week working on this page and TWC won't refresh my vote incentive and then DD says the page is too big to upload even though it's the same dimensions as the last page and DD just deleted 5 paragraphs of author's notes and WHAT WHAT? It won't shrink! RAR! I am cranky now!" complaint.
Well that's pretty much life. Things don't always go the way we want them too and it's a little self-centered to expect things to always go well and then complain when they don't. You could have just asked around on the forums about compressing the filesize properly because as we see here, it can be done. You're like, number two and your updates are pretty elaborate, being a day late or so while sorting out technical difficulties is a lot more acceptable/mature then ranting about how unfair the problem is.
Ohhh so he wasn't conscious of what Tony was doing in there... been wondering that for months...
Wow Talk about level headed! Blaine is amazingly philosophical in those last two panels. I love Blaine's expression in the second last panel mostly because it was so unexpected.
Also: the finding the wand Storyarc is almost over... wow...
does this mean he has to stay out of the city now because of his oath to Vic?
another also: Mort grew some major cheekbones...
great job!!!!!!
I really like this page. Great art, a dirty joke and a plot twist! I even like the lettering.
I like the fog effects, especially in the first panel.
I was dead certain that Blaine would hate Tony forever or even assume him to be an ally of his fathers killer. What a twist!
I like the *Snort*. I hope Tony remembers to wipe the rat-slobber off.
Yeah, I don't mind changing the price of things (Size limit in this case), but I also lose it if nobody tells you beforehand.
I can't believe how far you got, from a black dot on the page to... this artwork.
I loved your work from since I found it, just a couple of weeks ago, and reading through the archives swallowed ALOT of the time I actually had to use for other stuff.
Without regret however ;)
Hmmm, lemons.
It figures that Tony would be cool enough to leave a friendly note like that - proves that he's Northern German by birth.* ;)
I'm a bit surprised, though, that Blaine is cool enough not to just snap into vendetta-mode. Could the possession have left its traces? According to most legends direct confrontation with albs is usually a rather sobering (in the sense of mind-clearing) experience, albeit dey really is harmless otherwises.
lmfao! gotta love the note!
and poor blaine; so much abuse in the past 24 hrs. but at least hilarity ensues!!!
i hope ur feeling better soon amy. i know how much fun migraines can b (as in, NOT AT ALL). make sure u get the rest u need, and no matter what any1 says, ur health is more important than putting out a page. we may bitch and whine if u dont update, but id rather wait a few more days than have u get sick and not b able to update at all!!! *^.^*
Curses! My computer's broken and my PSP won't load the picture! I'll comment on how awesome it is when I can, but in the mean time, I would like to wish everybody a happy "International Bacon Day." ^^
This may not be all that relevant, I don't actually know much about the uploading system, but formats like .png can be recompressed for smaller sizes.
For instance:
2,059,817 bytes - Current comic size
2,007,121 bytes - After running deflopt & pngout
(Or rather, that most programs do not produce optimal compression but a good effort in a short amount of time - it took >2min for pngout to run).

I like how VanJulivan is a reasonable guy. He's pretty tolerant for having a lifelong vendetta against monsters.

A bit more forgiving than I'd expect a life-long demon hunter to be, personally.
