Well it took a bit of work but I fixed some mistakes and got this under the size limit so enjoy the update as I intended it. Still I don't know what I'm going to do in future, this size limit is going to cramp Charby's usual extra long update. I just hope I don't have to go back and edit any of my old pages because I won't be able to upload fixes to many of those since they are way over DD's size limit due to being many “standard” pages long. I love drunk duck and by no means is this me demanding a higher limit,I just wanted to vent, plain and simple! My apologies for the mistakes on the page, I fixed them up now. Been a stressful week for me with production problems and the usual, you know how it goes.
And since it needs mentioning, the DD awards winners are being announced, be polite and gracious guys! I don't expect to win anything, but you shouldn't act up when I don't. I'm up against some very talented people and it shouldn't be a shock that the judges choose a comic that's better than mine in any category. please try not to complain about it there, it makes the winner feel bad and makes CTV fans look bad!
Good to see that Blaine has his priorities straight even when he's used "like a flesh puppet."
Also, X Daggers has a point. This page does look a bit soft. I could see that trying to convey the cold, though.
@Sarahn: Yup, but it's been around for a while, first time I ran into trouble with it though! My double-updates usually were running along just under the limit (1.40mb or so) but today was a verrrry bad day for Amy. I kinda imploded a bit, it was probably hilarious to witness, but Nick didn't like it much!
@stinger9: Thanks! I ended up not having to, but .Jpegs...I dunno, don't like those so much, though I save all my uiu files as .jpegs still. Really appreciated the help though! I was about to try that!
@The Cuz: they introduced it with the new uploader. Everyone was having too much trouble uploading in the first place to notice the limit though, methinks! While a limit should be good for DD's image server, I think they ought to work on bringing out their dead first. There's a lot of comics in my faves that I'll miss, but they haven't seen light since 2005!
Fritolay1546: thanks! that was my official "my day was crappy!" picture, I intend to abuse these as much as possible from now on! (As soon as I make more...)
@Meemjar: haha, but you didn't see the panels I had to throw out on this page!
X Daggers: I really appreciated your honesty, and I endeavored to fix the page up a little! I hope it looks a little better now, I added a little color to the lineart, and cleaned up a few pencil wisps I missed. I was sorta embarrassed when I saw what I'd posted, but I have to thank you for speaking your mind! Still, I thought most of the character art has been looking better than my inks have lately. Then again, my ability to be competent with things in art goes in cycles, very soon I'll be all about inking again, I just know it!
@DJlink: Leave DD? Nevarrrr! (At most I'll be mirroring offsite soon once I get a buffer of some new comics!) DD is my first home, and despite some minor complaints I love the place. Any complaint I have is more like complaining about a friend or family member with a bad habit, it may annoy you but you still love them!
@Evilgrunt:very true! But when I was ranting about it, I was a little one-track minded. the limit itself wasn't bothering me, just my luck that I was soooo close to it yet so far!
@Canuovea: well he's not ungrateful, that's for sure! (Blaine may feel a little less grateful when he sees that note! ;) )
Larry: While I appreciate the input, you seem to be unaware that I've been on DD for over 6 years now and may know a thing or two about the site and what goes on in the background. I was obviously speaking out in anger in my previous rant, not anything to take too seriously!(I'd think the last part where I'm making Tasmanian Devil noises would've made that clear...) But since you brought it up...
I'm aware that DD is a free site and blah blah free service, don't complain. but even Smackjeeves has a max file size limit of 5mb. Granted, it's with payed service, but DD dropped that with the relaunch, so we're all getting equal service, righto?
We had limits before. Then DD crashed. Then it relaunched. No more size limits, and this was when Volte was still running the site. The new limit came recently, with the new uploader, as you can see not many people were aware of the size change. DD giveth, DD taketh away!
Now, I never said there's a conspiracy against non-gag-a-day, I was simply using them as an example of something that usually doesn't hit even the 1mb mark. I don't know of any four-panel ones that big, unless they're animating panels or something! I was simply saying that larger format comics are going to have a harder time here. If you're saying they should leave then, well, you're proving the point, see? :D
Yes, absolutely limits should be set.
I didn't have anything against the limit in the first place. I did, however, get really mad because my page was only 2kb over it!
So, what I must point out is that wasn't a "DD sucks and I'm leaving over a petty issue!" complaint, it was an "I have a throbbing cyst in my hand and a migraine and a blister on my finger and I spent an entire week working on this page and TWC won't refresh my vote incentive and then DD says the page is too big to upload even though it's the same dimensions as the last page and DD just deleted 5 paragraphs of author's notes and WHAT WHAT? It won't shrink! RAR! I am cranky now!" complaint.
Sorry for the long response, just a little bothered that you were reading into that quite differently than what I intended!
I think it is unfair to say that drunk duck has something against non gag a day strips and is conspiring against them in some manner.
The size limit has effected gag strips too. When you host a comic on a site for free(as in, not paying a dime) then you should expect to not have total control over every aspect of the servers and website design. The lack of file size limit was something left over from the early days of Platinum when they decided not to do anything to Drunk Duck. Considering all other comic hosting sites have had limits for a long time the 2mb limit really isn't too bad (even reasonable).
The only way you're going to get the infinite size you want is if you're hosting the comic on your own site.
Lol YARGH! :) I'm surprised the limit is 2mb when there are high-quality comics on this site like yours. I mean, are they trying to only attract gag comic strips as you say? Wth!
I'm not sure if I like the art style compared to prior pages. I think people have been saying they like it but it seems kind of blurry to me. IDK. Just my opinion I guess. As always your art is AWESOME!
Try saving as a highest possible quality jpeg. I just did that now with this page and it got cut down to 500 and something kb, with no noticeable artifacts.
Seriously? There's a new size limit? You've got to be kidding me....
...this is going to be a real pain in the ass in the future...
Great page though! Oh boy, waking by lemon-filled mouth. That guy's going to be pissed. XD

That was quite nice of Tony. Quite nice indeed.

size limit is pobably a lesser evil of some sort, it could be worse.
