Episode 4 Preview: Spaceport

Here's a preview of the setting for the opening scene of Episode 4: Time Flies (and Skips and Jumps). This is an approximately 24-km long cylinder ark-type spaceport.
For Arthur C. Clarke fans, you'll recognize its obvious Rama influence.
Scripting is currently underway, and I'm still looking at a Fall (northern-hemisphere) start. I'll have a few more previews in the meantime, though.

Not too bad. Lots of mouse clicking for a good foundation of stars. Duplicate layer and blur for glow effect. Then duplicate the base layer several times and shift, rotate, or flip the layers until I get a satisfactory density.

kiwifb--Adam Warren is one of my favorite comic creators. His "Empowered" is one of my favorite series, but I also love his Dirty Pair work (and the Dirty Pair in general--"Project Eden" is one of my favorite animes).

The first example of those in SF and speculative fiction seem to go back to the 1950s. Larry Niven used some sort of cylinder for ring world in 1970 but A. C. Clarke's rendez vous with Rama in 1973 is probably the one that made the biggest impact. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/O%27Neill_cylinder is instructive on the matter. Of course one of my favorite story taking place in an "O'Neil cylinder" is a "A plague of Angel" a dirty pair story by Adam Warren. I am not expecting any lovely angels here though.

Rama was indeed my first thought on seeing the picture. But was unsure because there is nothing to else in the picture from which you could figure out the scale of things. It could just have been a fancy can.
