Read my DD Interview (it's the second one on the page)
Ah, the beginnings of controversy and confrontation-! Meet Gina Sifuentes, Carolyn's teammate on the high school tennis team. It's sad to me when I see anyone say something as outrageously racist as Gina said to Carolyn, but it happens. And racism doesn't discriminate about which race is racist. There are people of all ethnicities and backgrounds who are prejudiced against people for their skin color or racial differences.
This is the first of a multi-page story arc which is about to get very intense but is vital to the story. We hope you enjoy it! Now, replies to the last page:
usedbooks: Thanks. I love the penciling, too. It's my first artistic love.
blntmaker: My wife is literally 50/50 involved with me in all aspects of the writing and dialogue for DE.
DAJB: Actually, “Burger Assistant” is a parody of “Hamburger Helper,” which is a cheap casserole-makings-in-a-box dinner where you just add browned ground meat. Anyway, I'm so glad you like the comic!
HurricaneCamille: Thanks for the 5!
trevoramueller: Thanks, I appreciate that. I like drawing chainlink fences for some reason.
Tantz Aerine: Thanks. :)
smkinoshita: Thanks, Scott! That's very true. And I'm just a nut for backgrounds.
Molly Loves The KLF: Yeah, she does. She's really trying to make something of her life and move on. I'm glad you like her curves.
TitanOne: Thanks.
JustNoPoint: It took two days. Penciling is a lot easier for me than inking and computer coloring/lettering.

Very interesting dialogue here. Its one thing for a girlfriend to be jealous of another girlfriend - but for a girl of color to throw out a race card like that inspite of the other friendship? What's that all about anyway... I'm learning that even here in LA...In the 21st Century, there is still strife between black and brown. Great art work aside though...loved that interview that you did too!

Awesomely done! Your facial expressions seem very much improved on this page as well. Looks like you had lots of fun on this page!

she was ignorant.but carol handles the situation really well.:)

I'm of mixed heritage myself -- although I don't 'show'. Avoiding a suggestion for some well-timed violence against an idiot, you did a very good job with the 'snotty ignorant girl face' in the last panel. (Which I'm going to be practising for Jenny in Super Temps)

It's nice to see some confirmation of the factual reality that racists are not always southern conservative white people.
Molly Loves the KLF at 10:00AM, March 3, 2008
Argh that Gina girl is bloody rude!! Carolyn sure told her, though. And in a nicer way than I would have done. If you ask me she shouldn't be allowed on the team- she'd probably let her racist attitude get in the way of too much!
albone at 9:00AM, March 3, 2008
Carolyn handled herself well, hopefully it won't escalate in the next update.
DAJB at 8:04AM, March 3, 2008
Yup - all too often forgotten that racism is a fairly universal human trait, not just a WASP-ish one! Nicely handled here - looking forward to the fallout!
trevoramueller at 7:26AM, March 3, 2008
Yeah, that's not an invite for a party...it's an invite for trouble.
Tantz_Aerine at 12:54AM, March 3, 2008
Ah, right. Racial balderdash. I had forgotten all about that for a while :(
usedbooks at 10:05PM, March 2, 2008
Ugh. Don't wanna have friends like that. I wouldn't put up with anyone who disrespected my friends or family.
