And Kimber is just the right size to be a chew toy. Maybe they should rethink this. Maybe weaken it with some bombs and strafing runs and then let her take it down.

Oh I bet they're rethinking just about everything!! As for the pre-bombing, well... I may not be emphasizing it enough but Kimber Lee's presence seems to be required, as she can somehow disrupt and weaken whatever forces are enhancing these creatures (like she did with Eli back in the Godstrain). So, bombs and any other weaponry are much less effective if she's not close by!
