Part 7 page 4
Ozoneocean on Sept. 5, 2007
Page description:
Ace tells Pinky a little story about the acquisition and provenance of the Buddha statue. It has quite a bearing on the previous chapter! It tells us more background behind what occurred.
Commentary:
Only a single day late THIS time! The main BG here was based on a photo of the inside of a hotel from a magazine. I can't remember what mag is was, something aspirational probably. I can't recall where it was taken either, probably a French hotel I think. Anyway, it was rather tricky to construct the pic, I messed up the perspective a bit, but it was such a magnificent angle and scene I just HAD to use it.
Vote
Using the BCX button to see the original version of the pic in the top right panel of The Morning after page- It's a sleeping Pinky's G-stringed bum, but not covered by sheets in the original!
And vote using the Top Web comics button to see the dull uncoloured linework of this page- the complicated concentric circle structure of the inner tower! Gawd that was a pain.
Feature
This week's feature is Life Like Weeds. A comical adventure by Mad Maz Mazzzoooooooooo! In the future the sea level has risen and there's no land left! But this isn't “Waterworld”. Life is sophisticated, futuristic and advanced. But even though people live in nice comfy floating bubble cities, they still want land.

Gorgeous interior architecture, as always, ace. ^_^ The flow of the word bubbles keeps me intrigued.

Yay, information about that Buddha, I was still wondering, lol. :D And I agree with everyone who said that perspective is amazing, my head would explode if I tried to draw something like that. Nice work!

*gasp*
Loud_G at 5:39AM, Sept. 10, 2007
That is a absolutely gorgeous bit of architecture and the vantage point is perfect. As for the rest of the comic, well I haven't got there yet, just opened up the page and was struck blind by its beauty. So I just had to comment. :D

fuk bro. Only you hvae the patience and skill to pull a scene off like this. The perspective BG really guides your eye so nicely along the dialogue. Beautifull sequence.

I love the comic and love the html you've laid out here. Would love to get a tip on putting up a background like you have done here. Great work all around Scott out

i had to look at that in full screan to get the full effect of that hight, although i would prolly not want to hang around in those chairs at the bottom with all of the various oportunities for people to drop things on you !

Man, you are some kind of God! That first panel is Holy!

Ah, I really should get back into replying and commenting now that my busy week is over, I'll try to, but only a couple of the direct questions for now; Gillsing - thanks for picking up the mistake in the text! -As for them taking it later during transport and not in the Souk the fact is the agent was alone in there, Astrova wasn't. Later he bribed an officer for information, obviously he'd be able to find out that it was only a training mission (unarmed), as well as most everything else about it and it's a lot easier to organise in advance for an armed band to attack whatever you want, than to take on a group of armed individuals all by yourself on the spot. ;) i.e. don't jump in and act, go away, plan and regroup. Jeegoo - As I said in the commentary, the main image is based on a photo of a hotel interior. It was a good guide! But the perspective is still not entirely accurate in my version :( Kyupol - Same, it's based on a photo from a magazine. Thanks everyone so much for the comments!

holy crap! this is fantastic!
Gillsing at 7:12PM, Sept. 7, 2007
Astrova was too well guarded, so they decided to attack an (unarmed) tank column instead. Would sound like a joke if it wasn't already after the fact. Also, "attacked buy a force" should be "attacked BY a force", right? And if someone calls for the guards, a rifleman is going to appear in each and every one of those portals in the awesome circular room, amirite? ;-)

wonderful backround as usual, keep them comming

Oooh, things always get tangled when someone mentions a nameless "we". Great page, although looking at it made me a little dizzy. @_@
Jeegoo at 8:21PM, Sept. 6, 2007
The perspective in that first panel is just stunning! Did you use reference or just make it up? Because if you just made it up then I want your brain >:3
coinilius at 6:26PM, Sept. 6, 2007
Oh man, the layout on this one is awesome - love the perspective and the way you've incorporated the 'flashbacks' as side panels :)
cresc at 6:25PM, Sept. 6, 2007
Great composition on this page, I like how you have this great picture of the chamber and the illustration of the story on the side.
Conned at 3:29PM, Sept. 6, 2007
What a story... The extra panels are a good addition :D
JillyFoo at 2:52PM, Sept. 6, 2007
whoa just whoa
seanh at 2:11PM, Sept. 6, 2007
Love the way you illustrate the story with the side panels. And the way the vertical room accommodates them. Storytelling with a capital S.
SarahN at 11:35AM, Sept. 6, 2007
Yep, I agree with everyone else. Amazing high-up room shot.^^ That's some cool architecture.
Krensada at 10:51AM, Sept. 6, 2007
God this page looks visually stunning! I love this perspective angle you used on this room...
