Consequences - Issue 13 Hey there, Everyone! My brother thinks that you might want to hear from me for a change, so I'm going to try to prepare comments for the Author's comments box for the forseeable future.
Today's page was one of those pages I couldn't wait to get to since I first plotted out how “Consequences” was going to go. I've also been a bit worried about how the whole hell part of the story would be received because of the seeming use of technology throughout the story. We're approaching the explanation for that, so hopefully that will make some sort of sense soon.
On a technical note, I've gone completely digital with the comic as of this page. I am the proud owner of a Gateway C142 XL tablet PC. Along with the portability this affords, I can also draw directly on to the screen, and the stylus even allows for 256 levels of pressure - which seems to be plenty. the upshot of this is that I now work completely paperless. I rough out a page of comics in Photoshop and then go over it in more detail on a separate layer. If you don't get what I'm saying, just trust me that it's HELLA cool! SpANG has been using a tablet PC for a while now, and had convinced me of it's charms many months ago, but now I'm completely hooked!
On a sales note, for those of you unaware, There are now digital (PDF) versions of our print comics available in our online store. These include “Going Home”, "Myths )
"What is this grid of which you speak? What...there was actually a REASON that the former Satan was collecting all these gods? I thought he was just inhumanly cruel and such. And who do you think you are, bossing the new Satan around, telling me what I can and can't do with my prisoners?
...
Ah, whatever. I need a drink."
Since Satan is the second most powerful beeing in that realm, and this guy can order him around like that, then this guy must be the most powerfull one himself. So here we have it. God is actually a nerdy guy in a mecha robot!
Sephinââ¬Â¦ Oh okââ¬Â¦ Iââ¬â¢ve been saying it in my head wrong this entire timeââ¬Â¦ So new guy isnââ¬â¢t an oracle thenââ¬Â¦ hmmm maybe he is a new god then; the nerd god of the information age or something like that.
Anyhow thanks for confirming what heââ¬â¢s not.
Well what I'm beginning to wonder is what was meant by the "second most powerful being in control of the mortals of Earth"? That seems to imply that there is a primary God figure, or someone like that, something we've never really had any hints about until now.
Also, I'm getting the feeling that Hell might just be run as a business....
By the way, this looks awesome being all computer-drawn! I never would have noticed any difference if it wasn't pointed out to me. :)
The quotation marks on ââ¬Åatheistââ¬Â Were to point out that since he has stumbled into Hell he couldnââ¬â¢t be a true atheist anymore because he would know that gods exist. I suppose you could use the word atheist (without god(s)) to represent other belief systems i.e. ââ¬ÅWe donââ¬â¢t need godsââ¬Âââ¬Â¦ or something. Iââ¬â¢m ramblingââ¬Â¦ this is what I get for trying to think this late at night.
For XR4 IT.
First, why do you use quotation marks on "atheist"? Are you talking about a flat-earth atheist, i.e a man defending the ideas of atheism in a magic world ? One going less against the existence of gods than against... er... the holyness of their powers?
Beside this, my first idea was for another Stephen.
Iââ¬â¢m just going to make a stab at who this guy isââ¬Â¦ Iââ¬â¢m thinking a mortal scientist who has somehow used his technology to make it to the dead lands of Earth. Why he would be there? I have a few ideasââ¬Â¦ an ââ¬Åatheistââ¬Â who upon discovering the dead lands decided that the world is better off without gods, and is trying to get rid of all of themââ¬Â¦ Wait the other gods have been in there too long for this guy to be mortalââ¬Â¦ Maybe he is Earthââ¬â¢s version of Stephenââ¬Â¦ Ok I really have no idea, what do you guys think?
Looking forward to Sunday/Monday now ;)

If we do, other people won't have as much reason to vote - and we don't want THAT!
XR4_IT at 11:37PM, June 28, 2008
Wowââ¬Â¦ That vote incentive is very interesting, and the last thing I saw coming. Are we allowed to talk about it?
Zolem at 12:11PM, June 28, 2008
They don't beleive that he wants to be Satan.......who would? You'd have to be inhumanly crule with nothing but a thirst for power.

Just realised my comic needs a mecha! Hell - just realised every comic needs a mecha!

a grid?
roycemarie at 8:50PM, June 27, 2008
Just who is this 'person' who thinks she can tell Satan what to do?
Talekyn at 2:40PM, June 27, 2008
Yoiks!
Evil Emperor Nick at 2:24PM, June 27, 2008
Note: That is in NO way to say it wasn't interesting before, just that it has gotten SO interesting I feel the need to comment on it.
Evil Emperor Nick at 2:19PM, June 27, 2008
Well this is just getting interesting. I wonder what is so special about earth that everyone seems up in arms about it.

WTF???
Graphictruth at 12:45PM, June 27, 2008
definitely a five. I'm wondering if in this universe, everyone gets to be a god for 15 minutes. - but that's a subjective near-infinity. :P

I soooo would have had my flying monkeys drag those Asian deities back into their fish tank! And as for the bubble mech: rubber mallet smackdown!

What's a "Stephen"? Do you mean "Sephin"? If so, nope, not him or anyone like him.
Custard Trout at 4:04AM, June 27, 2008
It would seem that he can.
WanderingVillager at 3:56AM, June 27, 2008
The Grid is everywhere. No one can be told what The Grid is. You have to see it for yourself...

The grid? Sounds like a power grid. So the gods' drained power doesn't just disappear, it actually goes somewhere...?
