Strip V: Levana Needs Help

J_Scarbrough on July 20, 2022

I received a little bit of technical medical schooling after this strip was first published in 2012. A reader commented that their girlfriend was a Red Cross worker, and that hospitals and blood banks store units of human blood for only a certain amount of time before that blood eventually “dies” and goes to waste if it's not used . . . as somebody who regularly watches M*A*S*H, the subject of which was mentioned a time or two, I should have known this. In this case, Laura could've just as easily held onto the “dead” units of blood for Levana - that is, assuming vampires aren't picky about the kind of blood they drink.

But yeah, even Levana is disgusted by her own thirst for blood, and looks for anything to drink as a substitute to help her with her urges, hence her request for tomato juice, Worcesterhsire sauce, olives, and celery back in Strip II . . . but, obviously, she's reached a point where even such placebos don't really help her that much anymore. Is there anybody out there who can help her with such an unusual and peculiar problem such as this? I suppose we'll just have to wait and see.

And yeah, why are they in the janitor's closet anyway? What's up with that? Oh well.

Next week: WHOA! Vampire Hunter! Put that thing away before you hurt someone, man!
