Who here plays golf?
I like to get out on the green when I can, but it never seems to be often enough these days. I finally got back out onto the course and one of the first things I did was whack a goose in the head with a golf ball. I'm pretty sure it died. We did just play around it and hurried to the next hole, not speaking a word of it.
You know what the best part of golf is? You can drink on the course. Hammer back some beers while driving the cart, and murdering small animals (by accident). I daresay that golf gets a bad rap with the younger folks cause it's a “sport for old men”. Well they're half right, it is a sport for MEN.
So I want to have a thread about golf. It's a sport that actually requires you to use your brain, pick the right shots, and hit the ball properly and not just with blunt retard force (as this kills geese). What is not to like about golf?

fake edit: i'm not sure if this should go in GD or Games, so I'm sorry if this is in the wrong place.

Does Putt-Putt count?
If so, I suck at it.
But I do enjoy it.
Quite much.

Putt-Putt is pretty rad too, but knocking the ball several hundred yards is much more satisfying. It's been so long since I've played, my hands are stinging and it's incredibly hard to type. Yet the pain feels so good. B)

i have to echo this statement. even as a kid i wasnt very level headed.i'd get pissed and just start hittin the thing as hard as i could.ended up assassinating a light up santa claus decoration one year that way. i cant imagine how i'd react on an actual corse. hell, i'd probably get lost. i imagine it takes some good skill though.

I like to play golf when my life gets too exciting for me to handle.
Hey buddy, you should be a Russian Cosmonaut, and here's why.

lefarceIf you don't want trouble we'll keep this about golf as if it was an honest topic.

I haven't played since I was 8 years old.

My only experience with golf is driving my stepdad's golfcart around their retirement community. It's pretty fun. B)

When I was a kid I had a plastic golfball and I used to whack it up and down the lawn with a bent carpet rod. It was surprisingly enjoyable. Does that count?

My uncles like golf. So every once in while I golf with them (mainly to drive the golf cart). Once, don't tell anyone, but I found a golf club… and instead of handing it in… I… I STOLE IT!!!!!!!

I prefer mini-golf, as it's called here. The little courses are fun. Took my family on yesterday and beat a ten point spread.
I've shot some at the driving range, but I get bored after a hundred or so.

I had a bit to much to drink and nearly flipped the cart by going too fast at an odd angle. Those things can get some pretty good speed, and running it over the mounds is really fun.
I almost want to get old so I can ride them around all day long. B)
EDIT:
I had a really hard time explaining to some of my friends yesterday that I play sports, and actually keep my body in shape. I guess Golf is kinda strange for a guy in his mid-twenties to play, but I still like to run track and play baseball every now and then as well. Golf is really more of a game than a sport when you get down to it.

For some reason I can only think of this right now:

I love PA.
That is pretty much all you need to know about golf right there. If people cant understand whats so fun about it, theres your reason. You cant get hammered while playing baseball or football, but not only can you drink yourself stupid in golf, you can speed around recklessly in their carts and hit small animals.
