What's the point to MySpace?

I don't mean that in an overly critical way, I mean that in a “what the hell is it” kind of way. It seems that in the past few months I've heard more and more references to it, but when I go there it just looks like a confusing mass of people pretending they know eachother.

I dunno man. I jioned it to meet people. I actually meet my girlfriend on there and we have been together for half a year. So it is how you look at it. I use to to advertise, see how my friends are, meet people, and just have something stupid to do when I am bored.

Others use it to just show off their body or act stupid.

All in all. I guess just join it if you have nothing better to do.

But I have heard of people get hook ups off of it.

Now I only log in occasionally to see the messages I get, sometimes they're webcomic related, sometimes they're cosplay related, but mostly they're from creepy men trying to date me.

I only use it for storage so I can show my music and movies to friends. The site has too many bugs and sex ads to be worthwhile for anything else.

Honestly, I don't see how people can spend so much time on it. I go on it for maybe five minutes a week - after that, there's nothing left to do. Wow, maybe I'll completely redo my profile with more blinding graphics! Or change my background song! Or take more pictures! Or COMMENT! Pass.

People always add me as their friends - people I odn't know, bands, etc.. whatever, I always add them. It's about the same as friendster.

However, some bands I really like are on Myspace, like the Fireflies, and Kiss.Kiss - and they update their blogs with shows and whatnot, so I know when to go and where it's at. In that respect, I like Myspace. Other than that, it's just a way to prov you're 6 degrees from Kevin Bacon, basically.. except, you know, he's not on it…

Both pictures are actually me, the fake one is just me with a lot of makeup and a blonde wig on. I had to crop out most of the dress so people won't be able to tell it's a cosplay costume albeit an obscure one.

It's not just the news that says it's the devil incarnate, schools are all in an uproar about it. Apparently MySpace has caused the amount of rapists in the world to quadruple x 5000.

I personally don't see the glamor in it. Nearly all of my friends have one, but I'm too lazy/ don't have enough time on my hands to make one. I've got better things to do than stoke my insecurity issues. :roll:

I don't have a MySpace account. I thought about it once, but then I decided not to, after I realized that all the parkies (colloquial term for preppy, athletic, brainless popular kids at my school) in class wouldn't stap jabbering on and on about theirs. "Oh, hey, do you have a MySpace? I have a MySpace!! Come check out my MySpace!!! What's the address for your MySpace?!?
