Looks like it's hard to find illustrators willing to work on new scripts, and I can see why: if I was able to draw well enough I probably wanted to work on my own ideas…
Anyway, here's my project. And, yes, I'm looking for illustrator(s).

The plot grows around six characters, namely: the Filthy, the Cynical, the Whore, the Priest, the Policeman and the Mad One. No, they don't have and will not have “real” names, since each one represents one aspect of human nature. The story touches serious/adult themes, and each character will develop a personality and will have occasion to explore his/her link to spirituality. There's no blasphemy, but the resulting picture of religion/god is not properly the best one you can imagine.

Fabula and sujet differ a lot (i.e.: in one of the first chapters we learn the Whore dies during the shot of a pornographic movie, but then we see her again). It's not a matter of flashbacks (which I really dislike): every character has four chapters during which he/she is the protagonist of the story. Thus 24 chapters = 6 characters x 4 chapter each. Each character's four chapter are in time continuity (even if there could be some time ellipsis between one chapter and the following one) but the six time continuities are all mixed up (example: the aforementioned Whore's subplot ends before the first Filthy's chapter). The exposition order is simple: one chapter for each character, six chapters in this way create a quarter of the story.
It will happen that a character will be part of another character's chapter, but only as a supporting, brief role.

This has practical consequences: in my utopistic dreams I'd like to have six graphical styles, on for each character, according to the tone of his/her part of the plot. The Mad One, as an example, starts his subplot in an artificial paradise - he is under heavy drugs in a mental asylum - full of gears and factory machines, and I imagine the scene drawn/colored with art nouveau style. When he's sucked away from the paradise and thrown back in this world he sees everything gray and fuzzy. Only machines (cranes, motors…) maintain color and definition to his eyes.

The good news are that even if the project as a whole is quite a big one, the wannabe illustrator will not need to draw everything and everything together. It would be possible for him/her to choose one character and develop along that way. If I manage to find more that one collaborator that means that:
- I've wasted years and years of agnosticism since it looks like that not only there is God, but it also helps me in my stupid projects even if I haven't prayed since… well, since years and years
- we can split the workload, easily obtain different styles and compare the different approaches. Also, having the same character drawn by several hands means extra bonus points (at least ego points)

Now, what I can do:
- scripts (surprise, surprise)
- lettering - I'll be more than happy to do this. Also, I'll need the possibility to fine tune the cues according to the page aspect
- coloring? OK, frankly speaking, it would probably be better to directly pour paint from the can. But, if in extreme need, I could try

What you can do:
- reply to this thread. There's no secret about the story, I'll be glad to answer questions.

I wish I would've joined DD sooner and read this thread earlier because this sounds pretty interesting. It actually sounds a little similar to an idea I had developed a while ago but have since filed away so that I could develop a newer project. Right now I don't have enough time to devote drawing out pages for a large scale project like this, but I could contribute in maybe designing the characters if you need help in something along those lines.
