Okay. The rats are cute. I'm surprised videos haven't been made of them. Or I have yet to see them. :)

Hippie and usedbooks- your pet rat videos are incredibly adorable! I especially liked the fruit loop cereal used during treat time. The tissue nest was also cute. I hear they are very brilliant creatures. Also, do they really eat eggs?

I don't know if I ever fed eggs to mine, but rats will kind of eat anything. I used to give Ringo scraps of just whatever I was eating (in addition to his regular food, of course).

I give mine eggs when my yolk breaks. ;) They like gnawing bones too. Candy and carbs are their favorites. I used to have one I let roam my room (because she was nicely “housetrained” and didn't pee or chew things), and she'd find wrapped candy in my closets or drawers. She'd bring it to me and drop it in my lap to unwrap for her.
Chemically/phsiologically, rats are very similar to humans, which means they need and like the same kinds of foods. It's also why they are useful scientific models for dietary studies and a number of diseases.

Heh… and I thought rabbits were cute. Feeding the rats that breakfast cereal from the hand….
Now if only I could send over a large loaf of bread with holes cut into it so they can use it as a house and eat it too…
Ever thought of making a fun webcomic about them? :)

Haha, awesome! I've never really celebrated St Patrick's day but the wig looks pretty fun.

And braid and tassels, great outfit. Add another skull to your cross belt? Just to get a theme going. Screw cosplay, I'm a HUSSAR!

Thanks Bravo!
I certainly would put a skull on the crossbelt, but unfortunately it's an antique and my policy is not to modify antiques… That's fluid ground since the trousers and feather bonnet were genuine items too, but I consider those recent enough that it's ok.
I will have to get some leather, buckles, and extra wide silver metal tape (for the facing) and make my own recreation crossbelt that I feel more comfortable modifying!
-I've seen that exact crossbelt offerred for over $1000, saying it's late 1800s vatican gaurd, but I suspect this type is not as rare or old as some would claim and the true value shouldn't be more that $150. It may be Vatican, but my hunch is that it's from the 1950s. It's still relatively rare enough that I don't want to damage it though.

OMG! You look totally different from how I pictured you, Lonne. Not in a bad way or anything, though, haha. ^_^

Yup Lonne, you're a normal, handsome looking guy.
Really wonder why you've been so shy of showing your pic till now.

I'm back in uniform. Bring on the summer!

One month later. Longer hair, better camera, and my other work hat (because it was too frikkin windy on top of that lighthouse):

I bought face/body paint for my Halloween costume yesterday. :D I'm going as The Hitcher from Boosh…although I figure most people will probably just think I've painted my face green and worn a top hat, which is okay too.

Great pic of Smokey the Bear Used Books and a marvelous Hitcher Hippie.
This is me waiting in Berlin for the first leg of my long flight back home.

oi
This is me wearing my stuff after some changes… Mainly a very dificult operation to lengthen the dolman jacket arms and add silver wire braiding and buttons to the cuffs.
Aaaaand, I have a fake moustache.

THAT IS A HUSSAR! Excellent work on the cuffs. The mustache really completes the effect.
Might I suggest an “S” hook belt closure for the sword belt?

Thanks Barvo!
Here's a better look at the cuff work:

I already have an S buckle, you can see it bellow. The next job in adding rings to the sword belt when my sabretach is fixed and then making a new improved barrel sash.

Now that is truly excellent work. The S buckle just adds the final touch, don't even need the sabertache but then having it swinging about the legs as you lift the sword is what the dash and romance of a hussar is all about!
Dash and romance look like you should be riding right behind Bluecher or the Duke of Brunswick on some charge at a French square.

So awesome, Oz.
Maybe not as awesome, but they sure are distracting me this week. Behold! A pile of rodents!

Awww, so cute! I still miss my ratty.
Not sure if I would have them again though…their lifespan is so short but they're easy to get attached to. :(

It's pretty emotionally taxing. I lost an old guy last week.
Oh, and this is their great grandma (sister to the one I just buried):

I'm on the 22nd generation. I cry every time one of them dies. What can I say? Maybe I'm an emotional masochist.
