Here's the way to do it if you have Chrome, Firefox, or any browser that supports uBlacklist!

I've tried it and it works. It's like genAI images don't exist.

Was literally looking for a way to do this, thank you! There is apparently also some option within Firefox but that wasn't showing up, and therefore I could not check it off. I DESPISE the AI art.

I was desperately looking for Art Deco references and images specifically of Gotham to get a good idea, every other return was a tacky, glossy generative art render. I finally found some grainy stills from Batman TAS that were helpful though.

Generative AI art is so infuriating because it's giving the word “AI” itself such a bad association. AI used in medical science has been working miracles. The swill that techbros push trying to ruin art, has not.

im guessing itd just make image search results smaller from hiding the ai ones? was trying to find some background inspo just now, typing anime background into an image search is already skewing my results towards pc wallpapers, then theres all the ai and stock and junk. itd be easier to download a random series and pull out screenshots from every minute or so.

Which anime backgrounds are you looking for ksteak? Tumblr has a pretty good amount of them without getting buried by AI in the search right away, I tend to save a bunch whenever I see ‘em for inspiration too. There’s still wallpapers mixed in there too of course and a couple folks that think a big face blocking the scene still can be tagged as “background” but I did see a good amount of actual anime scenery from a cursory glance.

i needed ideas for more abstract backgrounds to fit some panels where having the setting would be a waste of art because of all of the speech bubbles. ill try tumbler next time. thanks.

YES to all of that. Also, my pleasure! Glad someone did something about getting us back to a normal search function.

I've added that to my Ublock extension in one browser, I hope it works!
I HATE generative AI in all its versions. It ONLY exists to strip copyright from existing work. Personally I think people should get fines and public humiliation for using it.

Same here! Amelius, you've put my thoughts in a nutshell.

@Tantz: Big thank you! You've done my frustrated nerves a huge favour.

Lmao, I've been doing the same lately. I can't believe how fast search has been infected.

Though personally I haven't been using references enough in my art. One thing an art teacher of mine recommended me is to take my own pictures and build up a collection of references for me to own. I've been doing so while traveling that way I could reference it when practicing or use it in a sort of collage way!
