As we are well into holiday season and only 9 days before 2019 (the final countdown!), I think it's good to have a look at all the awesome stuff that happened at the DD site, all absolutely done, funded, supported and cultivated by webcomic artists for webcomic artists AND webcomic fans!
Our community became significantly more active, and we're starting to get back the flavour of the old days of DD's excellent, supportive community that creates a fertile ground of inspiration, learning and development of art!
We successfully crowdfunded and equipped the DD site with comment and reply notifications, rendering each webcomic's comment section much more alive and responsive throughout the archives of past pages!
Along with the comment notifications, we tightened the site's usability, efficiency and user friendliness, with new highly viewable buttons.
We reactivated DD's twitter account, where a lot of new events are taking place such as the #quackchat and the #Twitter_Feature, while we constantly, daily promote our DDers' creations and updates of their webcomics by retweets and mentions!
We had an awesome 2018 DD Webcomics Awards cycle, with amazing FYC participations and fun events like the DD Red Carpet and acceptance/concession pages!
Other amazing community projects like the DD Pageant and Heroes Alliance are going strong, and more are germinating!
We created our Patreon and already have amazing patrons, who are increasing more and more, with special perks for them as our sincere thankfulness and appreciation!
We are preparing for a full redesign of the site so that it will be more modern, and even more usable.
This year, the Duck flew strong and with determination.
Here's to the new year bring more amazing, exciting innovations for the sake of our awesome DDers and their cool art!

Ich bin aus ganz ähnlichen Gründen seit 2009 hier (man braucht kein Diplom in Informatik um Comics ins Netz zu stellen) und mir ist diese alte Ente sehr ans Herz gewachsen. ;) @everyone again, because else it'd be really bad form: I told him welcome, that I came here in 2009 for similar reasons (you don't need a degree in IT to post comics) and that good old Duckiebooze has really grown on me ever since.

@Eustacheus yeah, welcome aboard. Theduck is both a place where you can inspire and be inspired. I came to it in 2009, returned to it this year, and it has grown exponentially from comics that are fun to comics that are outstanding on any level you want. Feel free to use the forum to answer any questions.

Again, thanks for the warm welcome you gave me when tumblr closed its doors to adult content. Never heard of your site before and only stumbled across it, because of some german comics you host. And since it is designed for webcomics it's so much better than tumblr where you had to study html to get it right. I like how easy the upload works and the high editability of your comic's page. I'm definitely considering becoming a patron next year. Merry christmas and a happy new year.
