Lite Bites Review: Derek Paterson's "Mars," p. 2/4

El Cid sez: The artwork in this and all of Dpat's works is very distinct. You'll probably either love it or hate it, but he at least deserves credit for creating a look all his own.

And speaking of blocky faces, isn't there a weird giant face carved into a mountain on the surface of Mars?

No. There isn't. That whole “Face on Mars” business was just a combination of shadows playing optical tricks on an otherwise not-so-remarkable hilltop, and crappy image quality. More recent imaging of the supposed “Face” in Mars' Cydonia region show that it's really just a random rock formation. So, sorry, no the Viking Mission did not discover the Martian Mt. Rushmore in 1976.

Now, if you'll excuse me, I have to get back to my Google Earth surveillance of Area 51…
