This comic was done for a competition, the ‘cheltenham illustration awards’. The entry had to be along the theme ‘travellers tales’. I wanted to do a comic about how I felt as a kid- totally bored and unappreciative of the little things in life! I figured all kids must feel like that, no matter where they live! So I got out a map of India (the most exotic place I could think of, plus I wanted the ‘traveller’ to be a Buddhist monk) and randomly placed my finger down somewhere, and it landed on Kashmir. Turns out Kashmir's a very pretty place, it was fun to research :)

I usually really really really OVER research. Most of the info gets dropped as unnecessary to the story. But, I couldn't do it any other way. And as you say, it's fun. How do you pronouce Aashar? I've recently met a bartender who has a simular name. I have no idea how she spells it though.
