Lite Bites Review: SHADES, p 3/7

El Cid sez: The battle begins! It was tricky trying to mix a review with a superhero-type battle scene, and really I think Genejoke had a better knack for the writing end of this than I did, so a lot of good lines from the reviewers didn't make it in. I'll try to add some of those here in the notes.

Reviewer Quotes:

"It reminds me of Valiant Comics. Remember them? …I love how deep valiant could be, so it's good when somebody makes me think of another work with strong writing.

I like how the villains are so layered, and you can see that, if their lives had been a little different, they might have been good guys. Well, except Thrawn!

I will maintain that Shades seems very like something that Valiant would have published. And I like Valiant Comics, so it's definitely a compliment there.

Shasta said something about how every story's already been written and such. I ended up truncating the quote though!

I think the amount of plots depends on how far you boil it down. in regards to Shades plot... sorry more review to come so I won't spill just yet.

Heh. They do say there's no such thing as an original plot! In fact don't they say there ARE only nine plots? Or is it only three? I had a lot of ideas I wanted to put into Shades from the beginning, but one of the things I learned WHILE writing it, was that the characters can make even a bad plot seem good (or a good plot seem bad!)
