And with that, VAMPIRE GIRL concluded its original 17-strip run on Smack Jeeves on March 29, 2012, and to very little fanfare . . . because nobody read it. I could go on about the reasons why, but now is not the time for that.
Admittedly, I wasn't entirely sure how to conclude Levana's story, so I ended up deciding on finishing it the way it started . . . it didn't work for CHEERS, so I don't know what made me think it would work for Levana.
At the time of wrapping up the original VAMPIRE GIRL comic, I did already have an idea for a continuation of Levana's story in a second season if you will, however I ultimately decided against it for two reasons: 1) Levana's story had already been wrapped up in those original 17 strips, so why pull a Disney and take a look at what happens after happily ever after? 2) Again, nobody read the comic in its first run, so why spend time pouring my heart and soul into something that nobody's interested in the first place?
Well, that brings us to all these years later . . . you see, the overall idea of a second season never exactly left my head, it sort of hung around in the back of my mind all this time . . . and, for whatever reason, there has been something of a (re)new(ed) interest in Levana and her story in the past couple of years . . . perhaps now the time is right for a second season after all; so, without further ado. . . .
Next week: VAMPIRE GIRL: The Second Season officially premieres here on The Duck! What does fate have in store for Levana now that she's mortal? Will mortality be everything she could've hoped for and more? Will her transformation be without consequence? Will we be seeing some old friends? Some new foes? Find out next week!

Smack Jeeves was kind of fickle like that, I guess, but yes, so far, VAMPIRE GIRL has done FAR better here on The Duck than it ever did on Smack Jeeves; at least here, it's gotten favorites, likes, regular comments, and readership . . . didn't have any of that on SJ.

This is the first time I'm reading this lovely comic, but I'm quite sure that this second part is where it'll get REALLY interesting. Also, in my experience, worrying about readership figures has never got anyone anywhere in webcomics. Their connection with how good the comic actually is is usually tenuous at best - as with everything on the internet.

Well, there were a number of factors as to why the comic went virtually unnoticed when it was on Smack Jeeves way back in the day, but I'm just really happy that it's been doing far much better here on The Duck, and glad that you've been enjoying it! So, HAVE things gotten interesting yet? ;)

Wow, what a beautiful end to the first Chapter, and to mention a possibility of a second chapter is GREAT news.
