I lived through the 1970's and had the appropriately painted wheat and aquakitchen, the russet green faux wood paneled hallways and harvest gold and forest green bathroom.
So the color scheme puts me back in thekitchen in 1973 watching Nixon on the news with Chet Huntley and David Brinkley.
And then I look at it again and expect to see Goldie Hawn dancing in the sidebar under my avatar.

Thank you very much, Bravo… for making feel so old. I was born in 1971 and lived as a little kid through that time. And who's Goldie Hawn again?

Well… time to play my alltime favorite game, Outrun. Well… the one I downloaded for my XB360. I always have fun playing that game.

*sigh*… I wish there were more driving games out there. Right now there are too many of those circuit racing games where you loop around a track while overtaking other cars. I guess it's easier to put a racing track into a game than it is to put in a very long road… So far my only driving games would be Outrun (the version I downloaded) and the Riding/Racing/Combat game called Road Rash for the old Playstation (I use my PS2 to play it).

Well… you're only old if you let yourself feel old. Despite being “old” I'm still playing fun video games that people think only younger people today will play.

*sigh* if only I had the internet when I was a teen… No… wait… my mother would've smashed every computer in the house and would've declared the Internet off limitsbecause the Devil used it to tempt youinto ultimate Sin(she was a very hardcore catholic).

As for Outrun… if only I could finish that 15 course challenge in the Ferrari Spyder… or maybe instead I should try my R-Type Final crapship attempt again (already have one of my attempts loaded onto my channel on YouTube… not very impressive though)…

I have a hardcore religious fanatic in my family too, my grandmother.

She secretly baptized my cousin when he was a toddler when she found out his parents wanted to grow up and choose his own religion.

Owch… if I ever have any children of my own (lack of prospects make this extremely unlikely) I'll make sure to keep a good eye on them as I want them to make that choice as well (and they don't get secretly indoctrinated into a religion when they're too young to understand what's happening to them)…

^ my atheism is constantly hidden/insulted by my parents.
although as I say, worship whatever the fuck you want to.

So yesterday me and a couple of my friends went bowling. We sucked.

Nonetheless, after we went to Cumby's (gas station), and bought us some Chillzone's (really cheap smoothies). We then sat in the back of one of my friends' truck and drank the smoothies we had bought.

An old man pulled up to the gas station and parked his car about twelve feet away from the pump. That was the first strange side.

Ten minutes later he got out of his car, doing who knows what, and then we saw that he looked like the dude from UP. We suspected he might have a small fat asian child with him (probably in the trunk, screaming).

But ANYWAY, he got out and went to the pump and tried to fill up his car BUT…it didn't reach. So he goes to his car and gets inside, leaving the door open. He first switches to nuetral and starts rolling down the hill but then realizes his mistake and puts it in reverse RIGHT BEFORE HE HITS THE CURB.

He reverses his car to the pump, nearly hitting it but still managing to stop it nine feet away. He then goes to the pump and it barely reaches his car (but does). So he stands there another ten minutes, the pump in his tank (dirty), but him not holding onto it (dirty).

Finally he realizes something's wrong and starts trying to find out what it is. The casheir in the gas station notices the old man struggling and goes out to help him. The cashier looks at the pump, takes it out of the tank and then looks at the buttons. All three gas selections (diesel, regular, …what the other one is…)…

ALL OF THEM ARE BLINKING-HE NEVER CHOSE ONE OF THEM.

The cashier fills his tank for him and then walks away.

After watching all this, while enjoying our smoothies, me and my friends feel terrible. We all wanted to help the guy (but didn't because we had no clue how he'd react) and seriously, it was the saddest thing I've ever seen…well close.

Heh… the elderly can be unpredictable. I've had firsthand experience. Some will be grateful for your help while others will blast you for it. That guy at the pump must've been either really old or is losing his mental abilities due to some age related disease… I hope no one ever has to go through that…

These colors for the forum are really bugging me… I don't want to be TOO hard on Wowio, because I know they're working hard, and I appreciate the fact that they're actually paying attention to the site… but I gotta say, the colors make it so hard to read, and it makes the forum feel kind of unwelcoming :( Just for fun I made a mock-up of what colors I think would be easier on the eyes, but even if my opinion was taken seriously, there are other issues that need worked out first. So… eh. But I do hope the colors change soon…

EDIT - If anyone's curious, here's that quick mock-up… IMO blue is so much easier on the eyes. It's still in the same sort of color theme, but toned down for ease of reading. Not that my suggestions would be taken seriously, but it's fun to dream, eh? :P

Also, I'm missing the emoticons. Although, that's partly because I made some of them (one from scratch, and then editing the bases + animating others) and I'm a dolt and only have one saved on my computer. Ah well.

EDIT - May I also add “wonky post formatting” to the list of things that are bugging me? D: I keep having to go into HTML mode and manually add paragraph tags.

Maybe the colors are the way they are so that we'll be driven from the forums and go back to making comics? Who knows? I do know one thing… it's a good way to drive people from the site. No one would want to browse any forum that causes eye pain and tears… ow…

The short version: Hey OFools and Ozone! Guess what? My kids are learning about you in school.
The longer version: We are a homeschooling family. My two oldest are learning geography right now, so we bought a huge ass world map and hung it on the biggest wall in our living room.
We decided to make it a fun family project by marking all of the places on the map where we knew people. To mark a spot we would take a thumbtack and wrap a little tag on the end of the thumbtack. On the tag we would write a name.

We marked down relatives all over the country. We marked down my Aunt who lives in China (and had a fun time trying to locate the city she was in) and our friend who lives in South Africa. We marked down our cousin in Germany and more and more. Before we knew it we had little thumbtacks popping up all over the world like little white flags – but sadly, no one was in Australia.

Each day for the next few weeks our kids were going to learn about the different places that all of our friends and family are all over the globe – what the climate is like, what animals live there, everything. My husband was looking forward to Australia (apparently) because when we all stepped back to examine the finished product he leaned over and whispered “Don't you know anyone from there? C'mon, you've got to know someone!”.

I thought real hard for a moment, then took a tack and flagged it “OzoneOcean” and placed it in an ambigious spot on the west side of Australia. Took another (Marked OFools) and flagged Sydney. I explained that you were both “artists” I was “accquainted” with through a website.
So there you go! You're both officially a part of our homeschool curriculum. :)

MOTHER FLIPPIN' A!
I'm having a ridiculously hard time editing my older post. Every time I do it messes up the line breaks, so just consider this an “edit”:

Hey guys, please check out this link to a topic I started in the Get Satisfaction forums. I couldn't find one already there, so I started one.

It's a last ditch effort to affect some change in the color scheme.

Jeeeeeeze… I feel like I'm the only person who comes from a really chill Catholic family. It's more like part of our culture or heritage or something I guess.

I totally came here with something to say and got completely distracted by forced baptisms.
….
I think I might start working on my friend's horns for her Vriska cosplay tomorrow. Our Michael's doesn't sell paperclay anymore so it looks like I'm going to have to venture off to the locally owned art store… they're kind of derp in there. Once a girl behind the counter told me there was no such thing as marker paper… then another girl ranted about how “koh-pix” markers are inferior and that's why they don't sell them… and then she was super offended that I told her that their website said that they'll order them on request and walked away.
So yeah I hope they know what paperclay is. @_@ I really don't like spending my money in there but I need the clay asap so I can start sizing the horns. We're trying to get our cosplays done for NYCC now because we won't have any time once classes start ahhhhhhh

Glad you posted that. I don't have a Get Satisfaction account, so I haven't posted anything there… but then again, maybe I should. Hopefully if people persist and complain long enough, something will change. I love DD, I've been here for years, but these colors… ouch. Also, I noticed Skool posted my mock-up :D I'm glad people like it - hopefully maybe perhaps Wowio will too?

EDIT - Seriously, the quote block undoes itself if I edit my post? -_- No way. Also disappears apparently if I go into HTML mode to add paragraph tags…

I am starting to go back to the Drunk Duck crave I used to have. Too bad Drunk Duck doesnt exist anymore…
Something quite sad is that the resolution of my screen is way too high to be able to safely read the new forums. I think Im gonna go blind squinting like this all the time.

In other news, I am currently in the business of creating computergames, Im creating the first Fighter that has ever been made in the Netherlands, I just hope well be able to finish the Demo this year.
Ill tell you people all about it once I have actually finished some promo art and such shit.

@Luminous
I posted in getsatisfaction about the color scheme and suggested that the yolk yellow be replaced with a pale blue or gray —

and then I noticed that skool has an earlier comment where she linked to your mock-up
http://i1087.photobucket.com/albums/j471/Parhelion7/ddmockup.jpg

which is exactly what I was thinking of after you already created it. imo, it's a Huge improvement.

Kroatz? Kroatz! I thought you were gone, gone, gone on the webbed foots of the drunk duck. happy to be wrong

Wow… whever thought going sober would be so painful? Nevermind the crash the duck had way back when it was still drunk (I lost my comic as I had no backups and had to redraw the thing from scratch)…

Uh… ok, I wanted to PQ this to an admin, but those are apparently down. I am deleting my comic. Continued lack of stats was the last straw.
It felt wrong to leave without saying anything. No hard feelings and good luck.

Wow, I was actually able to sign in. Well this is a step in the right direction I guess.
Insert rambling and vague anecdote about recent drunken mishaps, and half-hearted promises to work on comics in the near future. Sound about right? Groovy.
Also, I get Oz in my house in two weeks. :) Woot!

I'd post this in the bug report thread, but it's already known, so I guess I just want to whine about it a little bit, so I'm posting here :P

So… the stats. Or rather, lack thereof. It's really bugging me that I have no way to know how many people are viewing my comics. I know the stat archives still haven't transferred… but why isn't there something in place to track current views? And I can't even use an outside service because I can't use HTML… argh.

Well yeah, but that doesn't mean it's not important to be able to see stats. It's nice to know people are maybe actually bothering to look at something you're working hard on, since people don't always comment. And if you're at all serious about turning comic-making into a career or want to make money with ads, it's important to know how many views you get.
