Currently I do my speech balloons directly in CSP

So if you don't like the paint.net balloons you could just add Inkscape to your routne, here is a youtube tutorial

Thanks.

I personally like Firealpaca (free) , Ibis paint (Free with IAP /also on itunes), or Krita (free)

all are really good programs that I use alot.

I've been using ibispaint since I was 14, and even in college I still use it over procreate… for some reason. It's my all-in-one comfort food app. As of late, I've been going traditional to escape from technology, but ibispaint still has been my go-to for touching up my work. I've only paid 9.99 to get rid of the ads, but I refuse to get premium because subscriptions ick me haha.

Been using Affinty Photo. Haven't messed around with any of their other products, so can't speak to if Designer would be better or worse for people but personally I prefer to just draw rasterized and use a big resolution if I'm gonna end up printing. I honestly found it a lot more intuitive than Photoshop ever was and as much as I used to love Paint.net… the freeware options always seem to have some big limitations.

So, 70 bucks is still preferable to the subscription bullshit Adobe does now and it's been a smooth experience any time I try making something with it.

It’s good to hear that Affinity Photo is a robust program. I use Designer and Publisher regularly and they’re great. Photoshop seems to be getting more buggy and unstable with every update.

Really? I'm glad I stick with good old CS4, it lacks the advanced features of the modern stuff, but after you buy it, its “free” (LOL), and it's stable as stable.

I remember in the days of Photoshop 4 and 4.1, OMG the crashes! I was addicted to “ctrl + S”.

That was the exact reason why I stopped updating Adobe Premiere after CC 2018; with each update, they were removing more and more useful features and functions, that I decided it wasn't worth updating anymore. (That, and newer versions post-2018 weren't compatible with my Windows 7 computer).

Yeah, cut my teeth on the CS4 Suite back in highschool and every attempt I made to jump to CS5 or 6 felt like a lot of features that just made it harder to run and less stable when I could already do everything I needed.

I feel sorry for people still dumping money into the Creative Cloud BS.

I use Procreate although I don't know 95% of what all it offers. I previously took my finished ink drawings, scanned them to my computer, and cleaned up any mistakes in GIMP.
