What it says on my wooden Snake Staff

Hi, everyone!

Gonna be away this weekend, so I thought I’d just post something quick from my own personal life. My wooden snake staff. The same one that you see on this pic from a photo I took just this morning. Me and my dad carved it together back when I was in my late teens or something. It has these symbols carved into it. They are letters taken from one of the ancient norse rune alphabets, the Futhark, and I thought I’d just share with you what they say. First in the way it's written on swedish, my native language:

“Jag, Andreas, snidade denna orm av trä.”
“Må den hjälpa mig på min resa.”
“För sanning, kärlek och rättvisa.”

Here’s the English translation:

“I, Andreas, carved this snake out of wood.”
“May it aid me on my journey.”
“For truth, love and justice.”

Comments below. Til next time.

That's really cool! Many many years ago I learned runes, but only as the equivalents of the Latin alphabet, so I would write all sorts of things in runes all over the place. I carved a couple of staffs and carved runes into them and used paint to pick them out just like you snake staff there ^_^

@plymayer - Indeed^^. @PaulEberhardt - We did our best to make it that way me and my ol' man, back in the day. And to think that it's been a travelling companion of mine for over a decade now. It will probably outlast me to be honest:P @DylanTale Comics - The pleasure was mine👍

I love how it feels like something you'd see in a classic adventure-style movie. Thank you for sharing this!

This is really awesome! It looks just like one of those ancient staffs that have been carved many thousands of years ago, only in new and in its full glory.
