sorry missed the links, should have payed closer attention to the comments. as for liking it making it hard to judge i can totally see that. i tried to read death porn about 4 times before i finally got through it. it kept being on the top of the charts so i'd try and figure out why. 3d comics are missing a certain spark to them, and the disjointed nature of death porn makes it hard to get into, then there is how sex and gore is intertwined (it isn't so much the amount of either on their own). in the end all i can say is that El Cid is talented, but that death porn isn't my cup of tea and as such death porn probably is really good for people that can get into it. i got up to speed on BASO and it is pretty good, though it hasn't hooked me yet, though it is a 3d comic and those tend to be hard to hook me on.

@jamoecw, you've had a lot to say and have had a lot of interesting insight. It has made for some good reading. I have to admit for a lot of reading Dasien I wasn't really enjoying it and that will always lead to a more negative review, however it has improved and towards the end I can safely say it engaged me a lot more than it had previously.

I agree with Neilsama. Anime as a style can be radically different from manga. So having anime influence would not necessarily be identical with manga influence the same as doing Batman based solely on the movies rather than any of the comic incarnations. A random person's opinion is only bad when it differs with your own. When it agrees with your opinion then it is perfectly good.

hopefully at the end you'll have some links to the comics the rater's comics (the opinion of a random person is only as good as the next random person's opinion, the opinion of someone you respect is weighted by your respect for their judgement which only comes from being judged.).

Well, I know I wrote the word manga because this is a comic and not animation, but I see where you're getting at. I personally prefer the bright colors, but such is simply my preference. Also, I fully realize that my art critiques are made by somebody who doesn't even draw as well as in the comic. Maybe that can be considered a subtle joke in the vein of the 3D comic one.

What I'll say about the art is that I've always seen the core influences as being Archie meets The Dirty Pair. And of course, there's some Haruhiko Mikimoto and Kenichi Sonoda in there as well. That said, I kind of sneer when Das is compared directly with manga. There's a level of detail in manga that you won't find in Dasien, and most of the tropes associated with manga are absent as well. Giant sweat drops and chibi panels have never been a thing in Dasien. There's definitely a Japanese touch in Dasien, but it's mostly derivative of sci-fi anime of the 80s.

About Liberty: It's probably my own nostalgia that Liberty survives as part of Dasien. There was a very brief moment when Dasien was just starting, and Liberty was wrapping up. In those days, Liberty looked WAY better than Dasien. I always knew that some day, Liberty should actually come out of the core archive. There's nothing I can do about that here on The Duck, but on Dasien.com, it's more appropriately off to the side.

Really good review and that last joke is a scream. Thinks 3D comics are garbage when she was in one and is currently in another. Somebody hit that girl over the head with a chair or something.

I ran across the Liberty 3D comics several years ago. I'd never seen poser-comics before so, initially, I was sorta amazed. I'm a lot harder to impress these days, and they do look dated, but I had a nice, nostalgic feel when the Liberty comic made an appearance here - I think it's great he 'saved' them from internet purgatory!
