Let's talk about… books! I read Treasure Island in high school. It was one of my favorites, but my classmates hated it. They preferred Ethan Frome (which I hated…). I love the Muppets' version of it too, especially Tim Curry – one of my favorite actors. The first books I read were Secret Garden, Little House on the Prairie, and Wrinkle in Time.
Here are a few backstage notes for this page. Again, I received grief from my roommates over the design of the parents. I had decided that with this set of kids, one should be blond and one dark-haired. In any case, I didn't mean them to have haunting similarities to any other couple. I swear I didn't.
And here's one note from my real life. Gael's new dagger arrived. Great. Like she needs more weapons… Her collection of poisons and herbs concerns me enough.
Locoma: lol. Yeah, that's Gael. She mostly lurks quietly, but now and then has to give her two cents (or torment me)… Kids don't show up much in my comic. Too much scary stuff goes on. But they are necessary to bring out certain traits in the main cast. ;-)
Peipei: Babies like me. I don't know why. Babies are strange creatures. In this case, Jon seems to like Kaida. She does look a little like “Mom.”

AAACK!!! I LOVED Secret Garden/A Little Princess/the Little House series... wow... I even dressed up as Laura Ingalls Wilder for Halloween once (no one knew who I was..) I was also a big fan of Beverly Cleary's books, especially the "Mouse and the Motorcycle" books. I 'read' treasure island last summer. Well, I listened to an audio recording of it on Librovox.com during work. A good book. (The guy who read it did really good pirate voices too.)

At least, kids aren't as troublesome as criminal adults, that's for sure!

Haven't read "Great Expectations," but I think I will avoid it. I've always been a sucker for action adventures myself. I loved "Gulliver's Travels" too (which most of my classmates hated). My copy had footnotes, so I could get info about all the political things behind the satire. Fun. :-)

Love it...Don't get me started on "Young Adult" literature, I could write a dissertation...Oh wait, I have. (I will just reply to you that: I love and still love, The "Secret Garden," I can remember my mom reading "Treasure Island" to me when I was too young to read and I remember in vivid detail "the song." I couldn't' get enough Laura Ingalls, books or television show and I love love love "Wrinkle in Time." (I also didn't care for "Ethan Frome," but I HATED, "Great Expectations." When I taught the only books I gave away were: Dune and Go Ask Alice. I had tons stolen, which I didn't mind...If they wanted a book that bad I was happy...Man, I had a rockin' class library...When I quit, I went to the school and told the kids that anything not nailed down, if it had "Mrs. Allen" on it---they could have it. Almost all the books were gone. I love for old books to get new homes. Cute page. Kids have a charm, don't they?

OMG I hope Gael is as loyal and protective as Kaida... or you better replace your blankets with Kevlar :D Aww, I'm gonna miss those kids. I read Treasure Island when I was a child, but the only thing I remember is playing pirates with my friends back then, haha.

Lol, awesome page, the first panel is great =3 I've heard a lot of Wrinkle in Time, I haven't read it =( The first book I read, was Narnia: The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe when I was in 4th grade (and I STILL read that book at any given moment!). Anywho, I'm just rambling now *chomps at the cookies that has been handed out*
