To clarify my position about Hakoshen

The clues are very obvious and quite pointed. GM said that he bases clues on what is said and behavior. Hakoshen is the only person to use the word Mafioso. This cannot be overlooked. A red herring is a clue that points away from the suspect. this one is a direct hit.

Also there are NO OTHER CLUES in that particular hit. So the weight of the clue has to be considered. That means that it must be very specific - not a general fuzzy “well it looks like it might be LoS”. We have a direct quote from Hakoshen.

You're right. There are no other clues. In fact, there are no other clues that specific anywhere. For that reason, it's my personal belief is the brains set me up on this matter, since no one else has something so blatant (which is what Humor said he wanted to avoid by not using profiles and the like) in the entire narrative.

I'm sure others noticed it, but the only one to think it was evidence was someone out of Ochi's camp. It's so easy to associate the ripper with the guy with two lightsabers in his banner regardless of whether it's officially used by Humor or not. So why wouldn't the mafia make such a clear ploy to pin it on me, especially considering I was the most vehement one about killing them?

On an unrelated note, consider this.

You're justified. If you kill me, you'll know that it's incorrect, but I can't blame you for suspecting. I would feel the same.

This is the same thing he did last game, except last game he really was the vigilante, and this game he's either the vigilante or the serial killer.

Either way he gets stupid and desperate when he's in trouble, and whether he really is a vig or not, claiming to be will get him killed by mafia if he manages not to get lynched. LoS should have learned from the last game that a stupid vigilante that everyone knows, and is willing to start killing the first night based on rumors, isn't any more useful than a dead vigilante.

LoS has also pretty much admitted that if he's spared from lynching today, he's going to just try to hit anyone and ‘hope’ he hits a thug. If you're so confident about who you think is a bad guy LoS- tell us who you intend to hit, in case you die. :] If you're really the vigilante and you die, then your suspicions may be useful. Heck, they'll be useful even if you don't die. The mafia can't protect themselves from a hit so it isn't like they'd be able to use that knowledge to defend themselves. And if you believe someone's suspicious it would work for the town to know who that is.

I still think the narrative points more at him being the serial killer than the vigilante, but I'm not exactly sure how much we're supposed to interpret the narrative in that way.

That would be saying that the masons are specifically four people with a special name and that they're no different from townies, since anyone can talk to anyone. Besides, he would have had to change it for it to go from 4 to 3.

I think I'm gonna stick with LoS being the biggest suspect, I hope he isnt a vigilante though, I think I agree with skool that the first murder was committed by a serial killer…. this is pretty tough! =_=

Unless the person lynched today is the Ripper, that means we'll get another clue tomorrow about their identity (possibly two, or possibly none, depending on who/if they try to kill). So the argument against Hakoshen would be able to be investigated. I do tend to think that any clues would be based on more than a single shared word, but it's a starting place.

Edit: I'm hoping I've interpreted it right that LoS is the serial killer too… it wouldn't be great to lose a vigilante (despite how annoyed I sound about his announcing himself in both games), but worse, it would mean I was WRONG D: (And then no one will believe what I think anymore, ‘til I’m dead anyway.)

There's not much else I can do. You said it yourself; even if he is vigilante, he can't help anymore. He'll be killed by the mafia even if I pardon him, unless he IS a mafia. All he's done is make himself a target for both sides.

I can't help him now, and you know it.
