I woke up to my pressure boiler making a weird noise and my radiators all gurgly. Turns out that weird noise was water dripping out the standby tank thingy. I think it will still heat water (because the house and radiators were still warm) but it drips as it runs so I'm going to try and leave it off until someone can come round and fix it. (I suspect no water in the tank also makes it run harder and/or put air in the pipes, wasting gas.)

Phone calls this morning, my landlord hasn't returned my call yet though… I hope this doesn't disrupt my day too much, I have some important stuff to make sure gets done.

You know it's sometimes far easier to do something than we allow ourselves to admit.

So they called me at 23.26 to come in at midnight. An impossiblity. So I told them so. How dare I! I just hate watching my co-workers get walked all over so I've resolved not to let it happen to me. That and that hideous migraine that decided to start the minute I opened my eyes.

— wildebeasts and fauns—

Watched the first two Chronicles of Narnia movie and loved them. A nice uplifting story. And they bothered to get the uniforms right even down to the Homeguard webbing versus the regular 1937 pattern and that opening scene in Lion, witch and the Wardrobe with those beautiful CGI He-111s? Even down to the bomb bay and interior details! Worthy of the great movie Battle of Britain which used the real thing. Nice to see something that bothers to get it right even for something so small in relation to the remainder of the movie. Yet we can get whole movies like U-571 or The Patriot that forget everything. There's also SPR and BoB which insult and forget that someone else besides the USA fought in the great conflagration of 1941 oh right 1939- 1945.

There are times I hate being an historian. No one else cares and it doesn't matter that Mustangs never carried missiles and killed Tigers, that was the RAF on D-Day. If Spielberg could spend all that money to build a credible Tiger you'd think he could manage to find a flying Tempest or Typhoon? Enough ranting.

Think I'll go drill some portholes on a model of USS Yorktown CV-5.

I think I more or less fixed my boiler, it was simple, but I'm a little worried it might be indicative of other issues. But hopefully it will be fine.

bravo, To be fair to Band of Brothers, it's meant to follow the somewhat-true adventures of a specific US company. If they didn't have much significant interaction with troops from other nations or whatever, then there's no reason to insert that. I don't know if they did or didn't, but they do mention other forces' movements and aid and stuff when it's relevant to their story. They had a hard enough time wrangling their own cast and stories down to a manageable level. Unless that wasn't what you meant.

that's kinda how i feel when i see movies instituting military items into them. They can't even get current air craft configurations right. sure sometimes they have to make it up, because the knowledge is only inside the community, and a few other people…but still, to be so far off target is….ridiculous.

i forgot. i forget a lot. earlier i had a specific goal in mind. i opened up the browser. then stared at the web page asking myself how long i had been on the internet, and what i was doing, and closed it. then spent a literal 5 mnutes trying to recall what i was doing.
i think i have a problem. but if i bring it up to doctors, i lose my plush life, and won't be allowed to go after my goals….

Anybody know anything about seller's/vendor's permits or licenses? I know how to acquire one, but I'm not sure how much they cost (and I know they cost, considering that one has to go through the state government to get one) and the damn site for it doesn't say. I want to get one when I eventually get an artist's alley table at conventions, just in case I make enough to be taxed.

Anyway, I'm in the process now of taking a plush Kirby and initiating him into the Crips, just so I have an attention grabber the next time I go to a con.

No, that's perfectly normal. You'd be surprised at exactly what constitutes normal, but what you describe isn't outside of it 72 :)

I know it's big these days to talk about ADD, dyslexics, manic depressives, and ass-burgers or whatever, but aside from extreme cases who do have serious issues socialising with the wider community, ALL of us have slight tendencies in those directions to certain extents and dealing with them is just part of life. Pointing yourself out to a therapist only serves to add uneeded complications to your life, which is great for insecure teens that need special attention for self validation and the FEW extreme cases that actually DO genuinely NEED the help in order to function normally, but counter-productive to most successfully socialised adults.

So yeah… like frankkerr said- stoopid life advice. ^___^

Why is adultfanfiction.net so fucking weird? I was browsing the yaoi section hoping to get interested in doing a comic and, not exaggerating, at least 1/3 of the story summaries i skimmed by are tagged ‘Mpreg’.

And then run away in horror to the femslash section and this;
Werewolf story
Jade wore a simply white shirt which fitted her very well. Now it seemed to cover… more.

Jade apparently saw her look. It was, after all, hard to miss. “Curious?” Jade asked.

Suzanne nodded.

Grinning, Jade lifted her shirt, causing Suzanne to gasp with shocked surprise. Not because Jade was bold enough to reveal herself on the street, but because she revealed six beautiful breasts.

Duuuuude.

That is hilarious.

My fursanality is pidgeotto!

—–

I feel kind of sick after my adventure through the yaoi section in adultfanfiction… I think it was all the ass babies.

Seriously how the hell was ‘Mpreg’ conceived?? I mean I've always felt yaoi was mostly a ‘safe’ self insert story for young girls as it escaped the taboos of sexuality and violence on women. (i.e. a large chunk of the stories are slave/master, rape, and have a main character that is suicidal/lonely/waiting to be swept off ‘his’ feet) I mean this as no offense to gay men who enjoy those stories of course, but I think Mpreg is the defining example of the self-insert thing.

More of my updates on the inking process (I enjoy doing these)

Yesterday three pages, today two. So I'm one page ahead.

It's scary how much my rendering/shading has improved (and my ability to use perspective grids, although I find myself using either 1 or 2 point all the time or I just fake it, heh). It's also scary how little my figure drawing did. It DID improve, yes, but compared to the rest that's still the weakest point. Some drawings that I do… ugh! But I'll get better (I have to!)
Anyway, 11 pages to go, then coloring. Those 38 pages (plus a 2-pager that I'll do afterwards) will form Coilstar Illustrated Season 2 :D

I'm pondering tackling a 600 page b/w project next. It's my vampire story that recently got de-titled (that is, someone used up “Vampire Empire” for a novel when I wasn't looking) so I decided to push this one forward ahead of everything else. Unless I'll change my mind and pick another project, haha. But for now I'm starting to search for visual reference.

(and no, my vampires don't sparkle, thank you very much)

The train of thought: since I seem to be able to do 2 pages of inks a day, I should be able to build a large buffer of pages before I haveto pick up work. Maybe even manage to do daily updates? Who knows.

In non-comics world… I'm awaiting my final paycheck. Hopefully will arrive Friday but I kinda expect them to send it Monday. Meh.

It started out as a joke so I could go on the forum and be all “Hey. Im a furry now. Hurf durf.” Then it ended up getting a name and a back story. I might even make it a comic.

I dunno. Even if it's free for only a limited period, could be a beta version and incompatible with what you've already got, if not downright damaging. Satanic soldiers, for example.

My daughter could write and confirm that she's alive and well, but she's not doing that. It's not like she needs a friggin stamp.

So long as you didn't sign anything you're ahead of the game.

—wildebeasts jumping out of airplanes—

As for BoB, after a while the American dominance of media gets a little annoying. It was great when History Channel ran the Canadian miniseries Dieppe all those years ago but they only ran it once. BoB was on all the time and got really tired really fast. ;) But I still own it and watch it all the time. And it is 95% right. What they didn't get right they really couldn't because what is depicted is pretty much what happened.
