So what was the first thing for me to start off this new year? I woke up… to something chewing on one of my fingers. As I opened my eyes I could make out a thin line over my belly. Turns out it was a brown tree snake who thought my fingers were food (yeah… fingerfood). Yanked my finger from its mouth and in a fit of anger, grabbed the thing and threw it out of the house. Then I disinfected the wound its teeth left behind.
I'm starting to wonder how bad 2017 is going to be for me if it starts out like this…
And on that note… just an odd question. How does one plan on building a capital ship? O_O

I worked New Year's eve overnight. That put me at six days and I was so tired I slept through my whole day off.

So there are quite a few official remixes of Falco's Rock Me Amadeus, including a Canadian version, and an American-Canadian mix. The Salieri mix has a extended saxophone solo, which make very little sense … expect that Lisa Simpson plays Salieri in a Simpsons episode where Bart is Mozart, and Lisa is a sax player … but that was years later. So was the universe self-correcting? Like the whole Shazaam Conspiracy? And the Berenstain Bears Conspiracy? Which one of you Drunk Duckers swallowed the wrong coloured pill this time? Was it you Banes? Was it Ozone, again?

And the universe will always self correct for a poor choice. Unless it's more fun and less convenient for it not to.
There's always someone looking out for you.

So would it be bad if I took the multicolored rainbow pill? :)

There are reasons to be happy today:
-California's minimum wage has gone up for the second year in a row.
-Round trip tickets from LAX to Iceland start at $300.
-Schools reopen next Monday after the three-week break.
-I found a great new place to enjoy High Tea.

It was my webcomic anniversary today! My comic has been online, and more specifically on Drunk Duck for 13 years!! Unfortunately I didn't get a page done for the version that's been on here 13 years so I updated the other one, and a depression demon had to be defeated to get my customary anniversary cast poster done in time today. I only did the first half of the main crew. MEDIOCRE! I tried though…

I KNOW it's gonna be worse. Having a brown tree snake try to chow down on your right hand middle finger on the first day of the year is a very bad omen (I think)…

I tried being happy, made resolutions…then failed one and cut my finger while trying to draw blood on a tablet. Hurrah. That last sentence was total sarcasm.

So if the mortgage is due on a national holiday, and all banks and the post office are closed, the check is still late if delivered the next business day.
I love banks. Does it work that way with all the wonderful bank holidays in the UK?
And $650 to fix the hood latch on my car. With the car being 14 years old it took a week to get the part. Oh to live in a place with a working system of mass transit! It would be one less major concern in my life.

That sux Bravo :(

I'm modifying this collar on my red Dr Who coat to be a Zaphod coat, but turning the floppy velveteen collar into a folded over stand up collar is mindbending because the fabric and shapes perform in a very different way when they're worn VS their 2D flat shapes.
And I mean VERY different: like two curves going in opposite directions joining up and working together flat on one single even curve. UGH!!!!!
Trying to fill this strange shape with padding is exhausting my brain. If I didn't have a dummy to model it over I'd be stuffed.
I can't rely on measurements, I have to use paper to model it on the dummy and make patterns. And even that is fraught.

Let's just pray that 2017 is not as bad as 2016. I mean don't get me wrong, I hate Trump, but blindly hating a guy even though he has been in office for like…a few hours is a bit asinine. I'm just gonna sit back and watch what he does. If he does good, fine; if he does bad, we'll vote him out. People forgot how racist LBJ was but he did some good things (minus Vietnam. That was terrible). But one can hope. And I am hopeful things will pull together.

Dunno about everyone else, but my 2017 has been off to a fantastic start. So much so, that I'm starting to get a little concerned about upsetting clients because I can't keep up. For the first time in a while, I have enough cash in the bank that I can afford to pay the month's bills, purchase needed supplies for the print shop, and consider putting some into savings. Normally I have to settle for one, maybe two out of three.

Money is for spending. Rejoice in today because tomorrow may never come.
Another day, another disaster. I was looking through some stuff and shuffling boxes around trying to figure out exactly what I had. Ozoneocean goes on about collars and smoking jackets, I am trying to see if I have the parts to make up a 54mm gendarme d'ordinance . The end of a box caught the gun barrel of a built kit and it was hurled into space.
This was one of the few kits fully documented in photos so if I don't find all the bits to fix it no great loss. After so many disastrous incidents like this over the year I really have to be philosophical about it. Much of the work I have done has been irretrievably lost. And unlike the death clicks of a hard drive leaving you with nothing, here there are tantalizing pieces of what was, but like that hard drive it is unrecoverable.

Hoping I'm not unemployed indefinitely thanks to a federal hiring freeze. I liked being a park ranger, but if that chapter is over, so be it. I'll find something.

Sorry to hear that, I lost mine in government cutbacks too. I wasn't anything as cool as a park ranger, but the money was very useful. Hope everything works itself out for you.
