“Save ALL your work. Never throw your old art in the trash!” was a repeated mantra from all my art teachers over the years. The reasoning behind this idea makes sense: Old art is like a time capsule for fresh ideas and it can be a great addition in a ...

HippieVan at 12:00AM, Sept. 4, 2015

After a long comic-making hiatus, I’ve had several ideas for comics in the last little while. Working on the first one, though, I’ve realized that unless I get a heck of a lot faster at drawing it's unlikely that all of my ideas will ever come to ...

Those images that get stuck in your head

HippieVan at 12:00AM, Aug. 7, 2015

Is there a word for these?

I’m talking about those things that you automatically start drawing when you have a piece of paper and no specific ideas in mind. The images that find their way into the margins of your notebooks, onto napkins in restaurants…or on a whiteboard ...

kawaiidaigakusei at 12:00AM, July 27, 2015

I began creating webcomics because it was an affordable hobby. All I needed to create a page was some bristol paper, some black ink pens, a scanner and a computer. Having a digitally-formatted final product cut out the additional printing costs of traditional comics.

Eventually, I started learning new drawing ...
