Episode 206 - Turning An Idea Into A Comic

Feb 16, 2015

Back in January our own HippieVan was in a quandary as to how to turn a creative idea she had into a webcomic, so she decided to put it o the DD community and croudsource their wisdom via a newspost. Banes and I thought the topic would make a good Quackcast, especially since we could read out all the interesting and informative posts people made on the subject! Banes has also approached the idea previously for Quackcast 68 where he outlines a screen-writing method called "save the cat", also known as "The Banes' Method". That Quackcast was since deleted but as a special treat I will re-upload it!

That story made for great radio and it could springboard into more stories about your late night outdoor encounters in the dark. I was waiting to see an Abt Nihil reaction to Banes' impression!!

Weird to have recorded this episode and to be struggling with my own stories - gotta listen to this again...

Banes at 3:39PM, Feb. 17, 2015

haha - kawaii, I didn't even realize ozone included that story in the recording! It was a creepy moment, that's for sure. Sameth - Ah, now I get it. Still a great title! Abt - haha, thanks man! I like doing ze Abts voices!

Abt_Nihil at 3:36PM, Feb. 17, 2015

Ze Baneses accents iz mahvelous!

Ah! Thanks for the theme. And the shoutout. Just to note: Pegwarmers has nothing to do with pegs. It's actually a reference to the sales of toys. There are figures that don't do that well in sales and are thus referred to as "Pegwarmers" or "Shelfwarmers" much in the same way an athlete that doesn't leave the bench much is called a "benchwarmer."

I was listening to the QC last night with all the lights turned off and Banes' story about being outside late at night gave me the jitters. Gunwallace's theme for Pegwarmers made me imagine a large Lite Brite board with different colours lighting up with every note. It was a cool theme. I did not know Banes had a German accent in his repertoire until now!

Get the whip out! ...and recreate 50 shades of grey.

Great tips. Now to get cracking on a story.
