Celebrate Another Completed Year!

In just three days, 2019 will be in the past!

Often this is the time to make our obligatory “resolutions list” for the year to come, usually from looking back and seeing just what we didn't achieve in the year that is ending.

Making tallies of things we need to amend, finetune and correct is definitely necessary in the process of bettering our own self and keep on going towards the goals we have set. However, it might also bring us down, thus robbing us of motivation to do what we need to do if we don't also look back to see everything we have achieved.

From staying alive and healthy, to managing a condition or a mental illness, to getting closer to a goal or achieving it, the year that has just run its course definitely holds wins for each of us.

As we look at 2020 that is about to begin, it's good to tally up the good stuff in column B, alongside the ‘to do’ things we have yet to conquer in column A.

Especially when it comes to webcomics and creative projects that are behemoths, as it tends to happen with comic artists, seeing what we managed to achieve is vital to keep the determination going in order to work towards more goals!

Nothing is too small.

You may not have managed a regular update schedule, but the fact you update throughout the year is a win!

Or perhaps you may not have managed to update throughout a year, but did update at least once- that is also a win, because you're keeping at the project instead of letting it die.

Or perhaps you have decided to stop working on what doesn't fulfill you anymore, even though it's hard to own up to that, and instead started your passion project. That too is a win.

Celebrate that, and then push the envelope just a little further for 2020- and you're already at a better place than before.

Or perhaps there have been big achievements that you conquered. Maybe you completed your webcomic, or you landed a publishing deal, or made your first merch that does sell!

Celebrate these amazing milestones, and keep doing what you've been doing, because it's working great!

What wins will you celebrate for 2019?

Site wise here on the duck wasn’t very productive for me...at least in publishing anything here. I have been productive in pages to come. My art has changed a bit since my last real published page. So even though no one saw my new stuff, it was very productive year. Hopefully, I can push those scroller pages out for each month here. Wish me luck. (Coloring is still a M&$-*;=& ’er), lol!

I really hope Tom finds some help. I love that guy, he's been around a long time and he was a great contributor to the foums, with an excellent comic and he was even really cool to chat with live on the Quackcast!

Call Me Tom: I have deleted your comment, because you've been allowed to entertain such an untrue thing about your right to make art long enough. At least on my watch, you don't get to make such inaccurate statements that help nobody, and especially don't help you.

This year wasn't very productive for me, but as you say, being alive and healthy is a win :) Hope this next year things could get better and I want to thank to all my readers and colleagues. Best wishes for you in this upcoming year.

Did a lot of recycled content and tried to restart SOK. So 2019 was a building year full of trying new things. Next year it's time for new production.

I hit #3 in the top ten, and that's pretty special (and extremely unexpected). :)

I so appreciate and cherish this post. My first impulse was to say "good riddance to bad rubbish!" but I much prefer this more positive look, and you're completely right. We should look at the good we accomplished this year, and the good things we were fortunate to be a part of. We can still look back on things we did that were good. Thank you for reminding me of that, and a very happy new year to you!

A win that I will celebrate? Well--getting started! After being trapped in story writing limbo for what feels like a lifetime, I've finally taken the fundamental step of actually getting the ball of exposing my work for all to see rolling. To muster the courage of putting an end to ones seemingly endless scribbling and simply just roll with what you got, consequences be damned, is one of any story writer's greatest, if not the greatest, barrier to overcome, and that I think is well worthy a heartfelt salute and a glimmering toast from me(Y)
