HGTV was my reference point for how a wealthy man's home might look – hence the crown molding and marble fireplace. ^_~ Actually, I had severe writer/artist block on this page. My comic was in limbo for weeks while I tried to figure out 1) how to draw this room and 2) what they would talk about. I finally had a “well duh” moment and realized that Hecate was the most natural topic of conversation.
roycemarie: They certainly are. It's an intelligent and powerful breed, but also really beautiful, imo.
ghostrunner: The trick is to make it believable.
DAJB: ^_^
patrick: Lol. The dog was going to be named Anubis, but I decided to make it a female for the sake of metaphor. ;-) I know Hecate as a deity of witches. After I picked the name, my friend Gael informed me that she is often pictured with a dog or represented by a dog herself.
Peipei: Strange how cute and dangerous often go hand-in-hand. XD
Tantz: That's definitely the case if you rely on dogs to protect your property, but Hecate is more of a personal body guard. ;-)
trevor: I draw animals way better than people. They've also always been part of my life (*cough*biologydegree*cough*), and I just can't create a world without them. Jiro was part of the original cast – including just three women and him.
amanda: Hooray for pajamas so awesome that two awesome people invented them independently of each other!
JustNoPoint: That just proves that you're only a run-of-the-mill villain rather than a mastermind. XD Raidon is very interested in talking with Seiko (for reasons that will be apparent in a few pages) and he wants to at least appear amiable to Kaida's friends. ;-)
LanceDanger: That sounds… fun. I've never been bit. My dad has been bit by many dogs and once hunted by a feral dog pack. (He's not much of a dog lover. XD )

Nice work on the wealthy home! I must admit I've spent hours googling for suitable ref pics for some of the settings in Shades. And even when I di find something I like, it's seldom from the right angle! Fortunately, I then pass it onto someone else to worry about how to draw it!

Admirable to Kaida's friends? I hope they would understand calling the police on an attempted break in. I would be more worried if the person asked me to come in after he discovered me =p But yeah. These intellectual villains always want to talk and socialize.

Perhaps I should try to figure out a story to tell about a pet or an animal. Of course, with the way that I tell stories, I'd probably make the reader love the animal...and then kill it heroically. :P

Nice place, It looks vaguely Art Deco. What is it with villain-types and swords hanging on their walls? What Raidon says about Hecate reminds me of the one line in Chef: "--My bite is much worse than my bark and my bark is atrocious!"

Nice! You did really well on the molding (which I personally think is an unfortunate name for anything that's actually supposed to enhance the appearance).

Can't wait to read his answer to that XD Dobermanns are pretty loyal, the minute he heard is owner's voice it was like "uh-oh!" XD That's the only time I've ever been bitten, though (my arm still have the scars a little visible). Yowzers, I think I wouldn't be a dog person too if all that would happen to me 0_o

Riiiight, and he'll just go Baldrik on them and just break down and spill it all. XD

Hmmm...He seems overly friendly. From first glance, he seems like a nice and trustworthy guy. But who knows? :s
ghostrunner at 11:11PM, Nov. 11, 2008
is he a girlie man?
