I used a different pencil this week, and it worked much better. It was consistent and didn't smear. It wasn't as dark as the softer pencil, so I increased the darkness and contrast on the scan.
Spring is hitting irl. I have congestion from allergies and am begrudgingly mowing again. I'm raising a few pullets to add to my chicken flock and have button quail eggs in the incubator because one of my buttons suddenly died (and they are monogamous, so her mate is singing the “lonely song”).

Great stuff. Love their expressions and how they're quick-planning.

Thanks! "Plans" are the hardest dialogue to abridge for comics, imo.

The night scene is wonderfully pulled off. Looks dark and night time but is easy for the reader to see everything. A hard thing to pull off.

Thanks. I use two semi-transparent layers for the effect. They are both a colorized blue-gray version of the color layer. One is set to "color legacy" (to make it blueish) and one to multiply (to make it dark). Then I delete parts of the multiply layer for highlights and parts of the color legacy layer for lighted areas.
