Then there was the guy who plagarized an article I'd forgotten I'd written a dozen years ago. Sure he expanded it with lots of great hints and tips, but it was my article. Then he's the one who gets hailed as a great genius. Story of my life.

I have a similar story. My dad does some work editing translated scientific articles in his spare time. They sent him an article to edit because he had some expertise in the topic. Reading it, he thought it seemed very familiar and realized that it was an article he had written some years ago. Most of it was word for word.
I wonder how often that happens and goes unnoticed.

That story makes me think of how great my dad is. When it happened, he told me he felt bad about notifying the editing company. He figured that the guy had probably been under a lot of pressure to put out an article or something.

I'm just about finished our Halloween costumes. I got very frustrated with my sister's costume today. All the separate parts of the Enterprise look pretty good(well, for being made out of paper towel rolls and such, I think) but when I tried to put it all together I failed miserably. I didn't take into account enough how much heavier the back is than the front, so it's very hard to hold the engines up. I have some ideas, but I think I'm going to have a hard time with it. I'm much better at painting and making little detailed things than I am at building things.

I don't have any projects after I'm done this, though. D: I hate not having a project.

I'm so sleepy-tired. Haven't slept well any night this week. Bags so large under my eyes they could carry a week's worth of groceries.

and now it's a rainy day. I have a suspicion that Charles Dodgson was under similar sleep deprivation when he wrote about Alice's adventures.

Also tired, but it's early here. Spent first night in new place and managing to get a signal on the wi fi from my old place, bonus. shame my desktop doesn't do wire fu, only my other halfs laptop. still it means I can check in until the cable is switched on tuesday.
We have mattresses on floors, until I get bedframes over later, also need to hook up washing machine and somehow bring over the fridge/freezer. Problem is I have no help today and three kids in tow… guess I'll be taking it easy today. well easy compared to what I did yesterday. At least the hard parts are pretty much behind us, I just need to get used to sleeping here.

Sleep is important!

——–

The press keeps saying in such a gloating fashion how much of a failure Google+ is now and how no one is using it anymore… And yet in the past two weeks or so it's been the most active I have ever seen it ever!
Do these idiots even have Google + accounts?

I hardly ever use mine, I just posted some stuff about Pinky TA etc like I do on FB and twitter and people are adding me left right and centre.
It seems to be an interesting cross between Facebbok and Twitter, in that it's as public and open as twitter with lots of strangers with similar interests adding you so you get to know about new people- so not all private, creepy and stalkerish like FB can be, but also not as spammy as Twitter can often be either.

Also it has longer post limits than even FB so you can post a LOT more stuff in an update, as well as the useful gallery stuff like FB. -and the friend circles that FB recently copied of course…

Anyway, I find I'm starting to use it a bit more now. It seems a much better promotional tool for you comic than FB or Twitter.

MAN! This forum really needs fixing… exactly 18 posts yesterday in the whole entire forum. jebus.

I vote forums AND stats as being the priority for fixing over everything else when we finally get going again (whenever that is). We need working stats for comic authors and for the stupid top ten list on the front page. and we need a much simpler and WORKING posting system that isn't crap like this one, and it should also say how many posts there are and who last posted on the main forum page…

I can't imagine it would be that hard to do… Volte smashed the whole site together again after the big death of 2005-6 in a very short time and it worked better then than we have at the moment, plus this is supposed to be all new, hightech, ultra shiny and cool new code and servers and everything…?

I miss having friends that i can be extremely secretive with. i have so much i want to say, but my current co-workers are all blabber mouths. It's a secret for a reason.

sigh. i've been down in the dumps as of late, and i haven't been able to tell anyone about it.
oh well, i'll get over it eventually.

I've been thinking the same think, escpecially seeing some of the things that Kyo has turned around in a day or weekend over at CF.

Don't fix it all too fast, or the upcoming Duck and Quail jokes won't seem as poignant. ;-)

I'm a little upset right now. My dad was “cleaning” (aka throwing things out) and he threw out a part of my sister's costume. It was just painted cardboard so I can see how it happened. The only problem is that it was a somewhat unique piece of cardboard. Its matching bit was already attached to the rest of the costume, so I have to find another bit of cardboard that's the same.

I know it's not reallymy dad's fault as he was just trying to clean up, but I'm very, very tempted to blame him.

I messed up at work - I worked my first shift alone with the new girl, and we were putting out the order. It looked like she was checking everything off before putting it out, but when I came in today my boss was like “Why didn't you guys check off the order?” She also counted the float wrong…
My boss didn't seem mad, but she must think I'm an idiot now.

Also, I was supposed to have two days off but I ended up taking other people's shifts both days. I think I need a day off.

So I'm playing Mass Effect 2, and I meet Elnora during the mission to recruit the Justicar. I choose the option to shoot her (via renegaede interrupt I think). Why? I learned earlier in the game that anyone wearing an Eclipse uniform is a true bonified killer so it was pretty hard to believe that she was only “pretending” to be an Eclipse merc (I doubt any gang that values their “uniform” would let an outsider wear one without killing one).

So how is this a “Renegade” action? The detective was glad I cut her career short though… :)

Raining again today. When it rains as hard as it is doing now, I try to think nice positive thoughts about it… especially the fact that we're gonna be drinking it later. Long ago we had a bad water shortage. So bad that for 18 hours a day the water supply to most villages was cut off in order to conserve. The water company called it “water shedding”. I'd like to call it something else, but I tend to keep offensive four letter words out of my vocabulary…

You're not getting old, are you? I've always been told that when you get older you tend to sleep more. Hasn't gotten to me yet. Maybe it's all the cheap coffee I've been partaking in lately…

That's not true… I think. From my knowledge most older people will tend to go to bed earlier, but get up waaaay earlier and frequently have insomnia anyway.

It's teenagers that need the most sleep apparently. :)

I need more sleep at the moment it seems. That's hard to manage because I'm used to staying up for as long as I like and getting stuff done. But falling asleep at my desk sort of kills that now. -__-
————————

Have you ever had a whole day where you just felt slightly stoned/drunk?
That's what it's like for me now: that floaty, sleepy, dreamy, blissy, unreality feeling all day so far. It's nice, but harder to remember things (short term) and concentration suffers. It was weird at work, but I managed.

And no- I've not taken anything to cause it… unless my tea was spiked :)

Feels real good. ^__^

Wow… had one weird dream… seeing the intro to a Magiversity anime. O_O

And the whole thing animated to Keith Urban's song “Once in a Lifetime”. Well… the first third of it, with the final scene being my webcomic's protagonist seeing her mystery crush on a hill, reaching out with his hand and her running up trying to grab him, only to grab thin air instead, then the poor girl looking up at the sunset…

I could probably try to animate the thing, but wouldn't be able to use the song since certain people will probably object and send me a CaD order…

Nah, accidentally took almost a hour nap before dinner. So around 3 am (gmt) I finally got some sleep. But it's not like it mattered much since on mondays I have no classes…

Oh, great… one of the fans inside my computer's power supply is malfunctioning. It's making a lot of noise now. Not hard to replace, but it involves taking the power supply out of the box, opening the power supply and replacing the fan. Since most power supplies use the same fans that computer cases can use, this should be an easy job. Now to go to work and worry about where I put that electrical tape later…

Wow… a viral video (in this case, “Nyan Cat”) leads me to an anime that I hope comes over here. I've always loved anime comedies due to their cuteness and silliness. And the intros to them can really draw you in… something I have yet to encounter in American comedies. Well… here's the opening and closing animations for your viewing pleasure I think…

oh, great… boredom strikes me hard sometimes. Right now it's my night off and I'm looking up the Utau wiki. I think it might be fun to make a Utauloid using my voice. The weird thing is… I'd like him to be a crossdresser with one small difference… unlike one well known Utauloid out there it'll have an actual male voice…

Or maybe I'd better just keep playing Mass Effect 1 and 2 while waiting for 3. I'm pretty sure if I tried to make a Utauloid it'll be a major nightmare scenario…

I think I'm starting to have an allergy attack. I caught it quick, so I should be fine in a few minutes. Just trying to stay calm and let the antihistamines do their job. Staying calm is always the hardest part, though. And I know panicking only makes me feel worse.

I haven't had a full-blown allergy attack in months now and I'm not about to startthat again.

It's like Vocaloid (which is a digital song program) except it's free of charge and lets you make your own voicebanks (and thus your own digital Utauloid, which is like a Vocaloid, only a bit less refined)…

I'll be drawing again once I pick up my monitor from the shop next week. It's annoying trying to draw when the screen suddenly turns dark and very cyany and I have to use unsubtle tapping to make it return to nromal…

My grandfather was just moved to a more restricted section of the nursing home hes been living in for about a year. Hes taking the death of my grandmother, something that occurred several months ago, very hard. He never talks about it and pretends everything is alright.
A few days ago he snapped at me for goofing around, something he has never done before. I'm sad that he takes the easy way out, blaming others for his troubles. It's not like I can help him cope with anything in a better way.
At least the chance of him attacking any of the other old people he surrounds himself with isn't very high any more.
The feeling you get, right before you poop.
That's the best feeling in the world.

Ugh… I'm sorry to read this. Your grandmother was really dear to him and losing her was probably like losing a part of himself. Good thing he's in a nursing home. Otherwise he would probably have taken the fatal route my uncle took when his wife died… he quite literally drank himself to death (and this is one of the reasons why I will never willingly drink alcohol). Maybe if you spend as much time as possible even when he “snaps” he'll raise his spirits or something…

Finished Jacob's loyalty mission in ME2 and it got me thinking…. what do you think would go through your mind if you found out one or both of your parents had a bad side to them? I guess I felt sorry for the character because after ten years of not seeing him and then finding out he took advantage of the situation he was in; his ship crashed, he was in command, and he made the most of it… by making the crew eat the toxic flora/fauna while he kept all the good food for himself, thent ook advantage of the women and killed or exiled all the men…

And personally, I'd rather see a guy like that rot in prison instead of shooting him in the head.
