Yeah, there's no way in hell 2025 is going to be a happy year for anybody, unless you're filthy, stinkin' rich, because you'll be getting even more money from us poor schmucks while we're bled dry again.

Happy New Year 2025, J_Scarbrough!
Thank you for starting this year’s new thread.
Deer Goals
One of my travel goals/dream places to visit is Nara Prefecture in Japan so I can feed ¥2 biscuits to the deer that live in the park. I even mapped out the journey from the Los Angeles Airport to Narita Airport and the various hubs of public transit I would have to take to get there.
Then I looked up all the places in the United States that offer the unique experience of feeding deer and one of the few places that came up on search was in Sevierville, TN.
I now have two destinations that offer the deer feeding experience. Both trips would be relatively similar in price, but only one requires a passport.
Thank you for starting this year’s new thread.

It's very sad for me.
My cat Mouse had a severe injury on Christmas day, had super expensive surgery to fix that, then he had a second issue that required another expensive vet stay, then that issue led to another and he needed a transfusion which he got today at the animal hospital, but now they have discovered the route cause of those problems- perforated intestine and sceptic infection.
He's having the operation now. He could die and even after that he could die in the care he has to get to recover from it because it's just that bad.
And it is costing a LOT. It's getting close to the limit.

Oh no, Oz! I am sorry for all the maladies Mouse has been dealt in the last week. I think you have talked about Mouse since I first joined this site, so he is at least around the twenties?
Hoping Mouse pulls through with a healthy recovery.

I am so sorry everyone is having a hard start to the new year. Fighting Seasonal Affective Disorder I'm trying to make the best of it.

I have SAD as well, but I have Reverse SAD. Yes, that's actually a thing, and I feel somewhere better to know that science has validated people like me. . . .

Thanks Kawaii ^_^
He's 15 this year.
I lost his sister a couple of years ago.
The vets have said he's reasonably old but not super old for a regular domestic short hair, they get get into their 20s. like you said.
He's in intensive care today and I'm going to see him with my mum.
One thing people always say is that “If you think pet is like a child, you're wrong, you have never had a child, you care so much more for them.”
I would say that if you don't think of a pet and care for them the same way you would a child then good for you, but some of us do.
OK, enough of this from me for a while, it's making me too sad.

I know you don't wanna use the funds for the DD for these purposes, but I think if you'd start a separate effort to cover the medical expenses you'd see that a lot here would be eager to donate even if just small amounts. Or another admin could do it for you if they know you have your foot down on the whole principle of asking for money. In any case, I wish your Mouse a full recovery.

But it's way more money than that. Mum and dad are helping massively. It should top out soon.
Regardless, DD will always be paid for <3

I'm so sorry to hear about this, Oz! I'll keep my fingers crossed for Mouse.
Reminds me of when I lost my last cat (who lived to be 18). It hurts a lot. I also hold her memory very dear, like those of the others before her. Children or not, they're family members, and anyone who thinks that's soppy or exaggerated can go f…ind themselves somewhere else to exist!

You know what's weird? In addition to the domestic terrorist attack on our nation's Capitol by a cult of deranged lunatics, January 6, 20212 was also the day I coincidentally began working on the second season VAMPIRE GIRL. I can actually remember I had just begun to ink the first few panels I had penciled when I saw the attack unfold on live TV.

A much better milestone to commemorate on the same date.

My 21st Drunk Duck comic-anniversary was the 6th, but I got nothing done– page yet to be finished, no poster, because I've been sick– sis-in-law gave me and my husbando the cold for Christmas >_< It has been literal years since I had a cold, because surprise surprise, taking responsible safeguards against Covid also keeps one from catching cold/flu, the only reason we even got a cold is because we sat in the same room watching a movie in our own home and someone else brought the cold with her.
Ozone I'm really willing it for your cat, I hope he pulls through.

Ouch. After all these years, and always using incredibly complicated passwords containing letters, number, and symbols/special characters, somebody managed to actually hack my Facebook account today. Luckily, I'm back in now, but I had to go through a lot of ID confirmation and other security measures to unlock my account. I'm just glad it was as quick as it was, because I've had some friends mention having their accounts hacked before, which lead to them just having to create entirely new accounts altogether because Facebook wouldn't respond to their attempts to recover their original accounts.
On another subject, I think I brought this up before, but three years ago, Meta offered me a blue checkmark on my Instagram account, so I applied for it, followed all the necessary steps, provided all of the requested documentation, and . . . nothing. Never received a response from them. Just recently, they offered me the blue checkmark again . . . but now they want me to pay $28 a month for it. Hard pass. Right now, $28 a month can go toward keeping gas in the car, or food in the fridge.

28$ a month? I'm not even sure it's worth 5$ unless you already have an audience of a thousand or more who would otherwise get taken advantage of by an impersonator. Truth is, unless there's some personal beef with a bored internet psycho, small-time creators are so under the radar that no one even cares to impersonate them. ‘Cause where’s the profit in it? Where's the traffic they'd redirect with their little scheme? I know I don't care for a blue checkmark next to someone's name unless I already know who that person is and what's his deal. Sounds like meta is offering up VIP services for the masses when their target audience is streamers, public speakers and celebrities, you're smart not to go for such.
On another note… After four and a half months I just finished making 693 pages for the first Book of my new comic, it is done, I'm exhausted, time to rest, sleep and watch shows for a few weeks and then start reading lots of lots of comics you people write. Finally, I'll have months to do just that, aside from translation work and scripting the 2nd Book that I'll only have to start making in April.

If you believe the pseudoscience raw milk adherents you can drink it. Don't worry because bacteria is good for your immune system.

Happy new year, Spooky Kitsune, keeping up with the theme of this thread. There is a Persian drink called doogh made out of yogurt, soda water, and salt. Some find the sour taste delicious. Hopefully you discarded the rest of the spoiled milk for the next person.
Right on about good bacteria, bravo1107. I keep kefir in the fridge for months, the longer, the more probiotics for the gut.

I got a nasty cold from some idiot on the bus while going to visit my $25K pussycat XD
It's almost run its course now though than goodness!
Mouse has gotten over the worst of it it seems!!!!! He's still skeletally thin but he's eating like a champ and the osphegeal feeding tube in his neck was removed yesterday. YAY!
Mouse used to be all muscle. No fat on his body. The thing idiot health nuts never tell you is that very low bodyfat is NOT healthy and the older you get the more dangerous that is: you have zero reserves for when you get ill.
His little body cannibalised all that muscle and left him as a skeleton when he was ill so now I have to feed him back up.
He looks a bit anime with his clunky leg cast though XD

Congratulations for year 21!! You know what I miss most about old Drunk Duck? The cookies. I loved to give cookies to people, it was a really positive system that encouraged people to comment on comics. Glad the voting's gone though lol.
And YAY FOR MOUSE on rebound that is great news!! Give him plenty of the good stuff and put some meat back on that boy!

2025 marks the fifteenth anniversary of Attack of the Robofemoids on Drunkduck. I have got to finish the fifteenth anniversary director's cut Attack of the Robofemoids Special Edition comic I started two years ago.
But the comic isn't quite old enough to drink. First draft of the script goes back to 2004.

Here's a little something just to tease my fellow Ducks. . . .
I know some of you have expressed an interest in seeing a continuation of Levana's chronicles post-VAMPIRE GIRL. Ever since VG wrapped up, I will admit that I've flirted with that very idea, and have even had some plot scenarios come to mind about what sorts of things we might could see in such a comic, such as Levana and Laura pooling their resources to move into a new apartment together, maybe Laura deciding to search for a new job while Levana continues to immerse herself in hers - I even had in mind pair of new neighbors Laura and Levana could meet and mingle with. I also feel like instead of one continuous story told over several strips/pages, the format would be a collection of various and sundry stories, maybe told over five or six strips/pages at a time.
Obviously, nothing is set in stone, it probably isn't very likely I would be able to even do this any time soon, but just the same, I thought I would give Levana's fans this little teaser to let them know I have listened, I have seen you express your interest, and it is something that I do think about.
