I mean there were German Jewish Leib Hussars that had proudly worn the uniform.

Just like down here in the American south, there were even some black soldiers who enlisted in the Confederate Army,

Noooooo, not like that at all, haha! Because back then there were no Nazis. Those soldiers were Jewish, but also ordinary Germans. There was nothing unusual about them being in the army, being hussars or wearing the uniform with the totenkopf on their busby, unlike black soldiers fighting for the confederates, these men were not fighting against their own interests, they were just normal Prussian men, doing what other Prussians did.

The rising of the Nazis and their theft of the insignia decades later recontextualises their their existence but it doesn't change their motivation. :)

I see where the misunderstanding was though, you thought I was talking about them being Lieb Hussars during the 30s and 40s. No, I was talking about WW1 and before. My fault for not being more clear.

Happy Easter!

RIP Pope Francis :(

I have a great update from my personal end of things. Actually there are quite a few updates and I feel like my journey in finding my biological family is going almost as close to a fairy tale as the real world would allow.

1. Despite predictions to the contrary, I received an email from my biological mother on my birthday (March 21st) and I got to meet her on the 29th. We are still sounding each other out a bit on how involved we would like to be in each other's lives, but both she and her husband (not my bio dad) have stated that they would love to count my boys as their grandkids and get get to know them. She did not tell me about my biological dad, but stated that she was going to continue to honor the closed adoption agreement and wouldn't offer information about him.

2. I had met a cousin through DNA testing almost a decade ago. We have been friends on Facebook this entire time, but without knowing if I was related through my mom or dad's side, we didn't have much to go on. She knew of cousins that lived in my area at the right time, but couldn't figure it out. Once I announced I met my mom on Facebook, she started asking around again. A cousin that she had already ruled out fessed up when she was asking him about his brother's activity around my birth. So I got in touch with my biological father last week and met him yesterday. He also stated that he wants to get to know me and his grandsons. However, I am pumping the breaks on him just a little bit. He got his family started much later in life, and my half sister is just 4 years older than my first son.

3. I have been invited to the annual ladies weekend that my biological mom and her sisters have with their daughters. My aunt also made sure that the invitation extended to my mom, so we are both making plans on going.

So, yeah. Busy over here in Niccea Land.

Wow, I'm certainly glad that everything has worked out so excellently for you in terms of reconnecting with your biological family, even if you are, as you say, taking things a little slowly with your biological father and his own family. That's understandable though. All of my siblings (from either of my parents) are all much older than I am, so I have nieces and nephews who really aren't that much younger than I am . . . then again, both of my parents are old enough to be my grandparents, and have been mistaken as such on far more than one occasion.

It's nice to hear how receptive everyone has been so far, although I can imagine there must have been some initial awkwardness for all parties involved that you were able to overcome. Still really happy to hear about the end results for you.

In 2025 how is it possible to google song lyrics and not get any good results? 😭 WTF?

I do not like emo metal at all ever but somehow an odd emo metal song found its way into my regular playlist a few years ago (I do NOT know how), and played enough that I like it now.

I have tried and tried to find out more about it and the band but searches ALWAYS fail 😭

So I am asking for help please πŸ™
Does anyone know the song with these lyrics in the chorus:

“Make your stand rise of fall
Don't ever give up on a life worth fighting for
Take your place above it all
cuz it's the moment that you show them this means war”

It's a very epic sound ☺️

The only clue I have is the track name:
“Rise-or-FallRough-Mix”
It's a dead end. Google is no help but suspects it's Christian rock πŸ˜…

Nope, I didn't think of that… I don't use it. I will try and work it out this afternoon.
