My dad is in his late 70s and lives like he's in his 30s. He always has. His dad (my grandfather) got fat (what we thought of as fat but these days is just chubby haha), would sit in a chair all day and speak in unintelligible bursts that would trail off. He had a charm to him nevertheless and I miss him.
Dad isn't like that, but he's half deaf… not an age thing though, it's from having 50 cal machine guns shot too close to his head in the army.
And he was a champion rifle shooter for much of his youth and never really used proper protection then.

He was very into shooting when he was younger- hunting, competition shooting etc, but gave it all up in his 30s and now he's very antigun ownership and anti gun culture.

I had to look that up! o_o
My mum, my aunt, and my grandmother mother always had thyroid issues. Without meds it is quite a bad issue but with them it's fine. ^_^

The stupid google AI that answers searches now is moronic. OMG!
It lists “diet” as a treatment, i.e. “avoiding gluten” FFS! Whoever stated the myth about gluten and processed foods needs to be buried in manure. every day for the rest of their life. Unless you're celiac gluten is fine and “processed food” is a pure nonsense term because it's TOO broad and mixed. It's like the old diet myth of “avoid white food but brown food is good”/

So far my thyroid function is normal but it is a bit of a time bomb. Nothing can be done for it in this early stage but check my thyroid function every year.

My (former?) bestie had a thyroid cancer scare when she was a teenager, and I believe they completely removed it. Would it not be possible to do that as a preventantive measure, or would that be considered an unnecessary operation since it otherwise functions normally?

Much cheaper, safer, and easier to control with medication I believe - if you don't have something dire and drastic like cancer.

Sorry to hear about your diagnosis, Niccea. :/

Had a dream about the Duck last night!
A brand new forum was opened in addition to this one called HD Duck: for extremely high resolution images. As I was walking around the forum (which is now a mall btw), the first thing posted on the HD side was a very high resolution picture of Vegeta's face. My dream self was very impressed by this. lol

If you ever needed ideas for the site (like turning it into a mall or making an HD version), there ya go! My dream's got you covered, Ozone! :B lmfao

(It doesn't beat my first ever Duck dream though: went to go watch the Duck Awards but my dress ripped off, so I hid in the bathroom until the whole thing was over. lol XD)

Something tells me the tales of all those wardrobe malfunctions must have seeped into your subconscious when you dreamt that.

What's with troops on the streets in LA?

Just more of Dictator Drumpf attempting to turn our country into Nazi Germany 2.0 by unlawfully deploying military forces to silence peaceful protests.

Just so you know, whatever images you're seeing in the media from the so-called riots in LA with people waving Mexican flags and such that Trumpty-Dumpty dispatched the National Guard in to quell are not from the LA protests - they're old photos from riots that have taken place in years past in various Mexican cities; rightwing media, as always, is trying to distort facts to spread false propaganda to stir up their base.

It is very important not to do what the rightwing do and go into denialisim like them.
There are indeed some people with Mexican flags and some violence.

These are reports from the center left Australian Broadcasting Corporation who have a reporting team there and who's reporter was shot in the chest by US police:

I'm extremely surprised that there isn't national uproar about active service troops being used against American citisens.
This is exactly what all those gun-nuts have been justifying the “right to bare arms” with: protecting from government tyranny but when it actually happens they just support it.
Interesting and sad :(

Though this is exactly what these US soldiers have been doing to anti-government protests on the streets of Iraq and Afghanistan for years now so it's no different to them I suppose.

It is only tiranny when the other side is doing it.

There have been protests ramping up this entire week with the biggest national protest for Saturday. It isn't that there isn't an uproar it just isn't being covered adequately without bias.

For me personally, I stay out of it in the more public sphere because my parents, boss, and a couple of coworkers are far right, and I don't want my life to be hell. Even though I'm supposed to have the right to free speech, I've been afraid of retaliation in my personal life. I have seen stories of people that declare “86-47” being fired.

This is actually one of the things I'm blessed about. Even though my family is very right, I've been able to start making connections with my bio-family who are the exact opposites. It at least keeps my mental health in check.

Yeah. I wanted to give him a chance to see the website when it is up.
