I had a huge scare with my computer over the last few days, in which I was trying to non-destructively repartition the C and D Drives. See, my C Drive houses Windows and some programs, but shares the same physical drive as D - combined, they're a 180 gig hard drive. Well, 14 gigs are set aside for Windows, and for some reason the C Drive kept filling up and I would run out of space. Programs were crashing and it was no good.

My buddy Scott came over to help me repartition the drive using a program called GPart, which is a Linux program that runs a nondestructive reformatting of your drive, but if it fails or errors or crashes then you can lose everything. Scott said that although this is possible, it's never happened to him before.

Despite this, I still backed up the important documents (music, videoes, comics, etc). You can't back up programs, however, and some programs that I have I no longer have the discs for.

Well, about 30-40 minutes after we started running the program, it errored.

I went through the entire day at work nervous as hell, hoping and hoping that I didn't lose my D Drive. I was a nervous wreck for a good chunk of the day.

So we got back to the apartment (Scott met me there), and we checked the program. It errored during a testing phase, so it was possible that the drive did not wipe itself clean. With fingers crossed, we restarted the computer and found that it had reallocated 5 gigs to nothing (we were trying to free up 7 gigs from the D drive and apply them to C), but that all the files still seemed to be there. With bated breath, we started the program again to get the 5 gigs back on D, and then found another solution to the C Drive problem.

I won't go into details, but I'm certainly counting myself among the lucky right now. This could have gone so much worse. Suffice it to say, I could have lost my entire D and C Drives and would have had to start all over again…with a 5 year old machine, and little internet access at this time (I just moved).

Man I just don't trust them at all. I don't know how many different backups I have of my comics, over a hundred gigs all up maybe? Spread across CDs, three different machines and an external backup drive. Along with all the other important stuff of course.
Heh, funny how “fixing” a machine can often make it a bit worse.

Well, I passed my final test today for the police academy!

Procedures: 95%
General Topics: 88%
General Law: 100%
Specific Law: 94%


I won't know my final average until graduation, but I know I passed! The one I can say that I do know is the general topics averaged to 82.5% because I remember exactly what I got on the four tests combined. WOOT!!!!

Even with that, I think I'm pretty close to being one of the top five of the class. Only thing left now is to graduate, pass the POST test and get hired on.

Tomorrow is my second ride along with Silverthorne and my third interview. Thursday is my written exam, drug and physical, and then my oral board. If that goes well, then I'm as good as hired.

Problem is…there's pretty much four people going for one job…argh…here's to selling myself well!

It's cold outside and I work outside.
And we have a fire pit… but we burn pallets that were covered in fertilizer all season so I throw up if I stand by it to keep warm, and I freeze if I don't want to be sick.

I got a job (same office) that is 50% more stressful but pay increase? Maybe by March 2008.

Anyway doing it for the exp.

The rule of thumb: The more things you can do the easier it is to go from 1 job to another.

Though as of this point in time, I'm not scared of getting laid off. I am fully confident I can find another job in less than 1 week.

I've got to organise a group of idiots, at least two of whom hate me utterly, into an effective film crew. I have five people (including me), two to operate cameras, one to hold the mike, and two to act. The problem is, none of them want to act, because we're not actors, nor are any of us aspiring to be actors (otherwise we wouldn't be doing animation). They keep fighting about who's holding the mike as well.

Oh yeah, and I have to it filmed, edited, and complete in a fortnight because the American exchange student is buggering off back to whichever part of the US she came from.

This, along with the yet to be finished essay (which I managed to get an extension for, thank god), and the two minute animation I have to get finished, is making a major contribution towards my inevitable mental breakdown.

Dang I had to revise a big chunk of the script due to inconsistency about tanks. :(

I have a sore, and zits on my face do to stressing out if I'll get picked to go on a trip to Japan…

Hmm, as for lines under dresses, when I was around models, the thing seemed to be to wear a really slender g-string. They would go without bras underneath, but never without panties. …On the catwalk.

Damn it, I had a mildly inconvenient day and I was ready to write the best rant ever, it was epic. It had fancy words, perfect grammar, even a title: A Minor Annoyance At The Library.

But, I was in the cafe (at my uni people on the meal plan get a card with £36 a week to spend on food), when the lady at the till told I went over my limit, I said I'd come back after I'd finished eating as I didn't have my wallet on me (thinking how great it was to have more to add to my already brilliant rant), when out of nowhere a girl standing next to me says that she has plenty left on her card and paid the amount I owed for me. How dare she have the gall to commit a random act of kindness and brighten up my day, my rant will have to go to waste now.

Jesus and Satan have an argument as to who is the better programmer. This goes on for a few hours until they agree to hold a contest with God as the judge.
