hmmm….i mean…should i feel this way so soon?…i mean…i kinda feel guilty…but i mean…this is like the bajillionth time this has happened….maybe i was mentally prepared for it….


i'm sad that i'm leaving, but happy at the same time….a paradox….in fact, it seems that my life right now, is a massive paradox.

Volte, my feelings on the new design.

1. Okay, probably mentioned to death, but the white is just terrible. It's painful. Psychologically, the blue was a relaxing tone, friendly, and fresh. The white is clinical, sterile, and purely hostile.

2. I like the cover pages being shown, even if they are a little big. I like seeing the descriptions listed too. Still, it does feel rather shoved in my face.

3. The news section needs to be brought back. The community and its leader's announcements shouldn't be hidden on a side bar.

4. MyComics: I do not like having to wait for tiny word links to load. It should just be ‘there’ once I hit the main page, access in, etc.

5. I understand the importance of ads, but this is bordering on choking. The side ad really does not sit well with me. It's almost like its trying to trick me into accidentally clicking it instead of ‘MyComicNews’. That's giving this redesign an unsavory corporate look.

6. Over all lag. Well, you're probably working on this still, so I'm not going say much.

7. ‘My…’ bars. I don't like these at all. It seems so utterly unnecessary, I suppose and if anything, it's a hindrance. I don't see a reason to have the site load more things, make me wait, and hide things from me.

8. A side note… people would probably be a little more tolerant of these changes if things like the huge pile of glitches and bugs were addressed, either as actively in process of fixing or otherwise. Right now, I'm imagining this change feels more like giving someone with a beat up car that runs, an air freshener of a scent they don't like, when all they wanted was to fix the car's engine knock and wheel alignment.

As a whole, I can't say I much like these changes thus far. It lacks aesthetics for a comic site and functions have become downgraded. It feels ‘corporate’ and detached now.

Sorry. I'm sure you're working hard on this, but…

I don't know why you guys are posting in here about the site design. I understand it's your chance to “rant”, but I can almost guarantee volte does not come in here.

I don't want someone to hate me, I just want her to understand that she isn't actually in love with me. She isn't annoying or baying about it, she's just so sure that she loves me.

Thing is, I know she doesn't and just thinks that she does. Nothing I say convinces her otherwise, and she's determined to prove to me that she does. Normally I'd be freaked, but having known her as long as I do, I know she isn't going to do something incredibly scary or anything like that. She just means that she'll keep acting the way that she does and I'll eventually come around to realize that she does.

Just wish I could think of some way to make her understand that she doesn't.

What do you do when you don't care as much about some aspects of your life any longer? When a lot of stuff just stops mattering…? Seems to happen more and more to me. There's only a few things I really care about anymore, most things are like “oh hey…” following the motions you know? “here we go again” and again, and again…

As for that image, I dunno. I think Geekside were just advertising then. The first DD crash was because of a bug… and only for unpaid comics. Which was ok with me since I didn't have my comic on DD then, I'd only just signed up ^^

The problem with Geekside was they messed up. I think they were just subcontracting… reselling… They didn't pay their bills. Weren't reachable by email. And all of the DD content got locked away because Geekside's service provider froze their stuff, of which DD was a part.

Which would have been ok… Except the idiots didn't respond to emails etc and before Volte could do anything, the service provider deleted the whole lot. I think Geekside didn't tell him about that till a while after the fact.

Now, you can be a bitchy little grumpy fella and complain that Volte should have had his own contingency plans outside of that, and all sorts of back-ups, but it was all free, and him slaving away on the whole thing by himself. Of course back-ups would have been nicer and all the would'a been, could'a been, should'a been scenarios. but it was a pretty good deal when we had it. DD bounced back better than ever afterwards due to his efforts once again. :)

Most people did, but I want you to think long and hard about the people with 200+ page archives and no automated upload script on DD. You know what happened the first crash? A new upload system was introduced that let you select a whole bunch of files.

That's because every time you add something to the glass, you take out half the contents that used to be there. Let me demonstrate:

DD used to be a glass half full of chocolate milk. Yum!
Then DD had half of the chocolate milk replaced with regular milk. Okay, not as thick anymore, but whatever.
THEN half of that mixture was replaced with water. That was silly.
Now?

WHO PEED IN MY MILK?

Problem is, it's not YOUR milk to begin with.
