Even if you learn nothing in the study programme, it's great to go someplace new and experience a different culture. :]
I had my wisdom teeth out when I was like, 14? I had to be put under because 2 of them were impacted. So yes I was acting very weird when I came out of it, and pretty much only ate chicken stock for like a week, but it was no big deal, just kind of a funny story later. My root canals were far, far, far worse. A huge, painful, expensive ordeal. All because I didn't catch them soon enough and they got super infected literally overnight. I am super paranoid about my teeth now (still pretty bad about flossing tho).

Still scarred.
I read about extraction. Apparently it's much harder when you're older, they have to remove bone.
Remove bone.
I've booked a consultation for this afternoon. I'm seriously thinking that antibiotics might be better. I HATE dentists.
Hate them.
They inflict pain and make you feel like it's all your own fault. I want antibiotics. I don't want people sawing out pieces of my farking jaw in order to remove farking teeeeeeeeth.
My sister got it done when she was 16 or something. She was sedated in hospital. She screemed obcenities at the staff constantly, they didn't like her much. Her face was swollen up like a football when it was over, she looked hillarious…
The memory doesn't make my options seem any more appealing.
Antibiotics please.

Think of it like this… a little bit of pain now will save you a lifetime of headaches. :)
Ozoneocean

Will still get painful headaches. :)
I've booked it for tomorrow. Under anaesthetic. By god I am dreading it!
My reasoning was partly akin to your own Lonne in that all the wisdom teeth have cavities and occasionally/eventually cause or exacerbate infection of various sorts, so removing them will remove a vector for painful infection, but more importantly it will be cheaper and less painful in the long run because single extraction (for each tooth) under anaesthetic beat multiple fillings any day!
All the wisdom teeth are through apparently. None are impacted, from what they saw. All the roots are normal just like any other tooth… I've been told that extraction will most likely be just the same as any other tooth, so no exotic bone cutting or digging to find extended, weirdly shaped roots etc. …unless one of them breaks, which it may because it's in a bad way, then things will not be so smooth.
oh dear. It happens tomorrow.

Teeth are too much trouble and digestion and excretion are better left alone. I would rather do without the entire process.
Just drip feed me or something. maybe convert myself to solar- like a rattle snake. if I only had to deal with one meal every 6 months and spend the rest of the time lying in the sun to fuel up I think that'd be a fair trade.
Then there's worthless stuff like little toes and pinky fingers who's only purpose in life is to be smashed or painfully bent.
Being human sucks.

You are weird. Pinky fingers come in very handy for that last, lightest grocery bag, or for picking your nose.
I am glad to hear that your wisdom teeth won't be as complicated as you feared, though. :] I am pretty lucky and have teeth that are good at mostly keeping themselves in good shape (all my dentists say so, it must be true!) but I still have the nightmares where they crumble apart one day.

I use my pinky finger to hold open the right side of books.
Ozone, a tip: it's almost always a bad idea to look up medical stuff online. All it'll do is freak you out.
—-
I'm working more days than anyone else at work and have less hours. I have no idea why I always end up with all the short shifts, but after today I start two weeks without a day off. I enjoy my job but I can't help thinking how nice it would be to have a 9-5, Mon-Fri job.

I have to know what I'm up against. I'm still shit scared, but emotional arguments and gentle advice can't sway me either way mainly because I'm so scared, I needed more logical pros and cons to tip me in the right direction-
- The idea that having the teeth out is the only way is wrong. The alternative is antibiotics, anti-inflamatoriies, and painkillers. Then get the cavities in the wisdom teeth filled since they're all viable, fully out and not-impacted.
That was info that I NEEDED to know and no one was telling it to me straight.
- The problem with that approach is that fillings are more painful and more expensive and would have to be done more than once since there's a reason those teeth got cavities to start with (hard to clean). And will probably get infected again…
-So when I'm allowed to weigh the alternatives, THEN I can decide that extraction is good for me.

@OzoneOcean-Where have I been? Well…
I've been slogging my way through a Japanese Strategy RPG… nearly literally…
Record of Agarest War
And I'm still stuck at the First Generation… -_-
And this text system for the forum isn't working like I want.. It apparently hates links…
Good luck with having your teeth pulled. I hope they don't have to do anything too… drastic… like tying you to a post, tying a cable to your wisdom tooth and the other end to an M1 A1 Abrams Battle Tank…

When I was 19 i needed my first dental work, and first visit to the dentist for about five years at the time. Safe to say I was rather nervious. So i registered at a dentist and the receptionist was stunning, the day of the appointment I go again and there was yet another stunning receptionist. the gir who called me through again was absolutley stunning. The dentist was similarly stunning although a little older.
So she gives me the anaethetic and starts drilling…..
BIG OUCH! maybe she used too little or it's just me but the anaesthetic had little effect.
she spologised and gave me another injection, then tries again. still hrtsm just a little less.
after a few more attempts I finally stop feeling it. she does the work and keeps apologising for the discomfort. I didn't care, i was surrounded by beautiful women, I was happy enough.
Of course trying to chat any of them up afterwards was tricky as my klips were so numb I was dribbling.

I just had a mental image of your little dancing monkey/mouse trying to lug around some purloined comics.
It's chilly today. and rainy. and the cafeteria has New England clam chowder. it's really good.

and yes, the radio play has been all pieced together, but I'm going through the last bit to see if volume levels are about right and that the transition between each segment has the right timing.
And then the cyberspaced sexpots, er, I mean, our esteemed admins should kick it around some to make sure that it sound right over their equipment. I'm a-guessin.
BUT there are still 5 comic pages MIA – so it may be awhile before anyone besides the admins can hear it.

So – one of the four MIA has provided me a “placeholder” – a sketch that I can use while final exams take a priority – and then a finished page can come in later.
As for the other three, if I don't have something by Friday – placeholder or finished; I'll be taking up the new offers.

So how's the pain? Has it faded yet? Physical pain heals quickly, but perhaps the memory of that pain will linger for a lot longer. Still, you can take comfort in the fact that they're out now and you shouldn't worry about them…
Well… back to Agarest War for me tonight. I'm guessing I'm at the middle of the first Generation. And I'm at that part in the game where you have to talk to one of the female protagonists of the first Generation. Problem is… talking to one will lower the affection with the other two. And the amount of affection you have with any of them will determine the stats for the resulting offspring…
And I hear the sequel to the game (still in Japan and no U.S. release date yet) has a “dark love” option. Basically the protagonist takes a female protagonist as his wife (by force) to generate a child from a loveless marriage. The resulting hero will apparently have VERY LOW STATS… If I find myself playing that game I'll be sure to avoid that option as a main character with very low stats is not going to be easy to keep alive…

In other news I applied for a job yesterday , nothing new there I apply a lot. However not only did I get a reply, but it wasn't a thanks but no thanks type of reply. Even better they have asked me if i'm interested in applying for a more senior position than I originally went for.
Not that it means much yet, but it is a nice change from the usual response(or lack of) I get.

If anything, at least my eyes will get a bit of relief. I've been told that CRT monitors (like the 14 inch one I'm using) causes cancer in the eyes. I don't know if that's true, but I'd rather not find out… it's bad enough that I have to watch my eyes for the rest of my life because at some point the retina will detach from the wall of my eye, giving me permanent blindness… I wish I wasn't born so badly nearsighted… T_T
I guess I'm talking about Record of Agarest War a bit too much, but the game is the most amusing I've played in quite some time. Gotta feel sorry for the elf girl, though… She asks the male protagonist to join her at the lake to look for shooting stars reflected in the water. Accordingto a legend from her people's culture if a wish is made while seeing one reflected in the lake it will come true. Right then she then realizes another part of that legend… if she sees one while with a male that person is destined to be her “soul mate”.
And then they see one. Cue the girl becoming embarrassed and the male protagonist noticing…
“What's wrong? You've gone red all the way to the tips of your ears!”
And the poor girl denying that anything is wrong…
