I seem to remember Marvel put out B&W Conan magazines in the same format too back then. I used to leaf through these things at a local market stall because they always had some great art going on. Colour was never an issue in the UK as Marvel used to reprint all of their classics in B&W over here, even employing people to put screentones on the linework, which we all hated because it made everything look muddy. When US Marvel comics were imported, they removed MARVEL COMICS GROUP from the top bar and replaced it with MARVEL ALL-COLOUR COMICS, with the UK spelling and everything!

Thanks to a series of poorly paid and ill treated Amazon employees, Crayola pencils just arrived. These do have a much better colour intensity than I expected at the price. Nice!

Funny, I grew up with the dramatic action comic “Torkan”, which is a Conan/Fafhard and Grey Mouser clone by an Australian creator.
It was always in the big comics section of the middle of the Sunday Times. I LOVED IT!
There was also Phantom and various other great comics in that section on Sundays. It was a huge treat <3
It was always black and white and looked cool. But then in the 2000s they started colouring it and it looked awful :(

Always used Faber Castel pencils myself.

I always recommend Faber Castell Polychromos (mmm buttery) and Caran d'Ache for colored pencils. Don't recommend Prismacolors (formally known as Berol) Although I have some vintage ones that are alright. And as for watercolors? I wish I could afford Schmincke but not in this economy lol.

Crayola is great!
I used to color my pages with their washable super tip markers before I got some Copics.
For colored pencils, Tombow is good and pretty cheap. I mostly only use the light blue ones to pencil and they work well when you ink over them with water based felt pens.

Okay so I'm butting in to say that I've finally done it. I've nuked my twitter/x (xitter?) account after that wonderful announcement that all tweets and images will be scraped for AI use PLUS blocking folks will still allow them to look at your stuff. That's way too much bullsh*t for me. So I'm in the process of deleting all my tweets, glaze my banner, and leave the account up with just one tweet of where I'll be as a forwarding address, and that's that.
I'll be hanging out at Blue Sky fully and make sure the DD account is actually active there with presentations, articles, news, etc so if you're there come on down and let's follow each other.

It would appear Webcomicsfeed is no more.
Honestly, that site really wasn't set up that well anyway; they “apparently” allowed you see your comic's states . . . but they really didn't, so you really had no way of knowing how many subscribers, readers, views, etc. you had - and there was no way to even comment on anything. All things considered, it really was nothing more than just simply an archive for comics, and nothing more. I cross-posted VAMPIRE GIRL on it while it was running here on DD, but that was more-or-less like a backup archive, so I'm glad the comic itself has survived here on DD.

My long hair was very annoying yesterday! It kept blowing directly into my eyes and covering my face all day! I felt like an English Sheepdog :(
It's washed today so it's being better behaved.
So for a couple of years now I've had glasses (and a monocle), because my long vision is getting worse, but it's getting really bad now :(
Things beyond 2 and a half meters are not clear and reading text is a nightmare. But even close vision isn't clear, anything closer that 22 cm is a terrible blur. I hope that don't continue, I don't like to wear glasses inside.

@Ozoneocean - you’re wearing glasses INSIDE!? That’s not how you’re supposed to wear them. No wonder you’re feeling uncomfortable!

That's what happened with my mom post-cataract surgery: her vision was quite improved, but she ended up needing reading glasses.

Make the most of it, what follows is the hoarder phase. There will be glasses for near, glasses for far, glasses for watching netflix and glasses for those special, intricate tasks. There will also be glasses that don't work as well but are less embarassing in company and of course with all these glasses, you'll need some general purpose emergency glasses to help you find the pair you actually need, which will never be where you left them. The spectacle pixies are a notoriously mischievous tribe.

Nobody even thinks like that anymore. Glasses have long been accepted by society, and in fact, specs are cool! Hell, some of these eyeglass companies really like the underplay the sex appeal of specs in their commercials.

I must have graduated that into the all-in-one phase as I only have a single pair of multifocals. All my other glasses are stored in my emergency drawer in case my multifocals break which I hope not because they are the most expesive thing I wear daily.

Hahaha! I've already got 6 pairs plus a monocle XD
The first two (black plastic frames) are just for emergencies now because they're only for distance, plus an “aviator” style pair of distance only ones that I hate because they're not PROPER aviator style!
I love my 1970s vintage old Ray-ban aviators, which are unfortunately not prescription… So I tried to get prescription ones in that style and failed :(
The monocle is still good because it's distance only but the other eye can sort of see close, so it works in combo, like it should.
Monocles are highly underrated!
The main ones I use are all multifocals. 3 pairs! All the same rounded style with metal wings and thin tortoiseshell frames:
-The first pair are an older prescription but still work ok.
-The second pair and the sunglasses are a newer prescription and all in the exact same looking frame. I like them because they have a very retro feel, old fashioned. :)

FWIW, this was a parody of American eyeglass commercials that, for a while during the previous decade, seemed to always underplay the sex appeal of glasses in their advertising.

Monocles are hard to wear. I couldn't keep it in. Far easier to just balance the glasses on the nose like a pince nez but they fit by pinching the nose and that can get painful and they slip easily.
I might look into clip-on magnifiers like jewelers have but now I have fit over magnifiers that I use as needed.
But it was so wonderful when for first time since I was ten that I could see my face clearly in the mirror without my glasses. I normally don't wear them inside anymore because of those wonderful new lenses I got from cataract surgery but I am needing the glasses more and more because I am missing a lot of details. And I have always been just a touch detail oriented. Lol.

How poetic that I would be visisted by an unknown apparition so soon before Halloween. No idea who it was, I just know that at one point during the night, it dogpiled on me and zappped the energy out of me.

I'm hating the feel of the nosepads on the bridge of my nose from glasses :(
I can tolerate it during the day for the sunglasses (Exact same frames) but when I'm working at night OMG it gets to me.
So the surgery is stating not to work anymore? :(
@J_Scarbrough - feel confident that the lack of energy is more prosaic. Ghosts can't exist in this reality :)
Great in myth and story though!

I'm hoping it was neither, lol.
But this isn't even my first encounter with such apparitions. The summer of 2008, I found myself repeatedly visited every night for a couple of weeks or so by a spirit who would come into my room while I try to sleep, feeding off my energy as it would go through my drawers, to things on my desk and such. Finally I saw who my nightly visitor was in a vision: he was a little boy, maybe 6-7 years of age. Not sure why he latched onto me, but it finally got to a point where a priest had to come in to send him on his way.

I enjoy going out, but not with people. Well, individuals are okay but not groups - I just can't hack that anymore.

I bought the cheapest little drawing tablet I could find, so I can get some art done away from home on an old laptop. It's called an Ugee and it's turned out to be much better than I thought. Ten buttons you can assign to different functions, a nice textured surface and it doesn't feel cramped at all. (Other tablets are available).

I got an Ugee in September too when my Wacom finally died. I have also been surprised with how well it works for its price point. The short cut keys have been a lifesaver. (Though I really need to label what I programed those buttons to do)

I am SOOOOO tired. I got to bed after 1am and my tomcat woke me just after 4am by knocking stuff from my chest of drawers onto the floor T_T
He decided to sleep in my beret box but there are all sorts of things stacked in front of it… So he's woken up and kicked it all on the floor.
Then while I was trying to get back to sleep he jumped on my bed and started scratching himself for ages. When I moved way over the other side he kept moving over and laying against me.
Obviously he wanted to be cuddly but I neeeeeeded my sleep :(
Hopefully I can have a nap after work.

This site and my first pregnancy were definitely solace the first time around.
That and some paradigm shifting of my career…
I kind of blocked those years out…
