Hey all, I'm brand new at The Duck. I'm trying to find a good place to host my single panel gag cartoon “Highly Devolved”. I've been trying out different places like my personal website, Instagram, Reddit, Tumblr, etc. They all have pluses and minuses and almost everything seems to cater more to Manga/Graphic Novel type comics.
1)Any advice for those of us going for more of the Sunday Funny Paper style, particularly single panel gag cartoons?
2) Here at The Duck, the one thing I'm having trouble with is since my feature is only one panel, it shows up HUGE on the page - to the point where a viewer would have to scroll around to see the whole image and the caption at the bottom. This kind of ruins the pacing. What do I do???

I don't know for single gag cartoons, ideally you could leave some blank space around your image so that you could force it to be viewed smaller.
That said I don't think big images are really a problem, a lot of people read on smartphone and on smartphones it is a good thing to have big images.

Use less pixels. This is for onscreen viewing. Don't need for than 100-150 pixels per inch. Also don't need an image sized over 6x6 for a single panel.

The general guide here is maximum 950 pixels wide. For 1 panel only I'd maybe think about reducing your final .jpg or .png to 500-ish?

@dpat57 - actually 960 pixels I think haha! But extremely close! ^_^
@Josh you have a lot of control on this site. Make the image any size or proportions you like- but as @dpat57 says the maximum width that will show is 960px
Like Bravo says you can make things smaller or add white space around the image like Marco mentions.

God, I miss 2007. When there were like 3 monitor resolutions people used. I feel like my latest comics are sized perfectly for mobile devices but pretty much every mobile platform insists on square crops. Like there's no place for the art of paneling in the modern comic environment.
