What do you mean ‘scary’? I have the best damn custard there is. Nothing scary about it.

Custard.

I take martial arts classes: Shinkendo and Aikido. I've been taking them for about 2 1/2 years now, but I've owned my boken (my wooden sword) for about six years. Tonight, after class, I did something I've never done before for which I am frightened and deeply ashamed: I left my swords at class. I had three training swords and I pray desperately that I left them inside of the building and they'll be there when I return.

I've never gone a day, in the six years I've owned this sword, without it. It holds so much sentimental value to me; it's my security blanket in a way. I take it everywhere I go and the fact that I could so carelessly leave it behind is vehemently painful. This is something that might make me extremely depressed for a long time. I'm really scared for it and I really hope that I'll get it back on Wednesday.

I know it sounds silly, because it's just a wooden sword, but you couldn't imagine how much it means to me. I've considered it a friend for so long and I've grown closer to that sword than I have any of my other friends. I'm still in heavy disbelief that I could have left it behind.

One of my main worries is that I could have propped it up against my car before I left. If so, I probably would have heard it fall when I backed up or I would have probably ran over it and noticed then that I forgot my sword. I've repeated that through my head so many times, but the prospect that I didn't hear it and that I may have driven over it still rings through my head. I even drove back to the dojo to see if it was in the parking lot. I'm a sad excuse for an aspiring swordsman. I really hope I get my sword back.

Jeebus. Move to Australia, we have public healthcare, but even private health insurance is cheap enough. :)
Plus, it's easy to find jobs that pay a LOT more.

Oh Gods do I know about that. I have this folder of all my old correspondence and if I open it the same thing happens. All these years later I've moved on, but feelings will always remain.

Phew. That kind of thing is why I purged my house of ex-boyfriend stuff when I moved out. Sure I could have used that rice cooker, but using it would have made it ex boyfriend rice.

That happened to me recently when I wanted to adopt a cat. The rescue places I called all ask a few preliminary questions- they were a little wary when I said I already had a dog, but as soon as they knew she was a greyhound it was no, no, no. My dog's been cat-tested, I know my dog, she doesn't care about cats whatsoever. but the only proof they would accept for letting a cat live with my dog is that a cat lives with my dog. How am I supposed to do that? That's fine, I just won't adopt any of their kitties.

You could always ask to borrow a friend's cat, record the dog saying “Yeah, a cat. So?” and then show it to them… but just because a dog is cat-friendly, doesn't mean the cat is dog friendly. Although if the cat takes off like greased lightning and the dog just looks at you as if to say “What's her problem?” I suppose it'd prove the point.

I burned some of the most amazing art photographs I ever took because they had my ex in them. Photos that a lot of people asked to buy, but I refused because I wasn't willing to talk to her to get model release to sell them. I still can't look at pictures of her without wanting to punch a hole in the wall. No matter how much time goes by I'm sure that there will always be things that set me off when I see them. It really does suck man.

I remember we got a dog a few months before our cat died. She (the dog) kept trying to be friends with him, but he just clawed her in the face. She was terrified of him. Even though he was smaller than her head.

Additional: I had to clean a stain on my chair, so now I haven't got anything to sit on because it isn't dry yet.

I have to finish this bloody Flash animation as well. That's not going to easy kneeling like this.

Yeah, that happens too. Our dog thought every cat was a potential friend. Still, even that would prove the dog behaves itself. If you wanted a kitten, a young animal tend to just accept the situation. With us…

… our cat was 19, so we got a puppy to ease the pain of transition. The cat wasn't amused, but he wasn't amused when my Dad or I were introduced either, so he just took it as one more irritation he was determined to outlive. (Chipper outlived most of the animals on the block)

When Chipper died, we missed having a cat so introduced a kitten. The kitten wasn't very bright, but a natural hunter (no insects in our house) and one time jumped on the dog and rode her like a horse for a few seconds. They got along well, but one year Neko ate a poisoned mouse (neighbours were trying to get rid of mice, and she ate one that was trying to escape we're guessing) and died.

Everyone, dog included, missed having a cat around the house. So we adopted a cat in need of a home, and after she realized that Tinker just wanted to be friends, they got along well. Even better than Neko; she liked it when Tinker would mother her.

Sophie outlived Tinker (died of old age), so that's all I'm going to go into. What I'm saying is the adoption agency is being stupid, but you already mentioned that, Skoolmonkee. So if you still wanna try my suggestion, ask around for someone who has a dog-adjusted cat and demonstrate proof.

Actually, When I moved to the UK I left my 2 cats with my sister. Now that I know I will be here a good few years I'm going to work on getting the cats over here with me. They'll get better care and I know them- they grew up with dogs and should be fine with my dog. It will be expensive (very) but, they are my kitties :)

I hate you ‘My dog loves cats! it’d nevar hurt dem durp!' people.-_- Every.Freaking. time one of my relatives comes over to my house with their mangy mut, they say that same thing. And every fricken time those stupid dogs chase my cats and a few even attacked my poor kittys.

Worst part was i couldn't do a damn thing to hurt the dogs back- my relatives always got so offended when i told them to lock the mutts up.(interestingly enough all the dogs that attacked were from relatives i hated-the hick ones who do drugs all day and live alone in a trailer, no lie.)

(I say this even though I have a dog. But she's not some violent piece of crap like my relatives dogs -_- *pets my wonderful kittens & doogie* )

The thing about our dog is that she's a total wuss. We once looked after a friends hamster for a few days, and she avoided the front room like Satan himself was in there. When she finally decided to risk eternal punishment and went in, she just sat on the other side of the room trembling and whining.

Because of a hamster.

Which was about three weeks old.

Yeah.

I had a black cat once… He was born back before a lot of DDers.
He was a brave fella though, He'd go after dogs. Once my sister brought her Doberman to the house, it was on one side of the door and he was on the other. I had to separate them. But he was still trying to get at it through the door! Lashing and scarchin at it, yowling out his hatred. The poor doggy whimpered, sat down and wet itself.
All over the kitchen floor! T__T

Years ago my uncle and aunt had two dogs and two cats. One was a pig dog- a type used for hunting wild pigs, the big hairy tuskers. The two tomcats (Ginger cat and White cat) got along with them fine, but lost all fear of dogs because of it. Now, these guys lived in Broome, that's a northern town up in the Kimberly here, and back then it was pretty rough. The kind of dogs people would take into town were working dogs, not pets, they were for hunting and cattle herding etc.
They actually used to get complaints from dog owners that one of their cats was attacking the dogs in town. That's strange enough normally, but in a place like that it's straight out bizarre.
They had to keep Ginger cat locked up at night in the end. White cat could always beat Ginger cat in a fight though, so I'd hate to see what White cat would have done if he was that way inclined.
(yes, those were there names)
———————————–

But those kinds of things are the exception. Cats are small, dogs are big. Dogs love to chase things that are afraid of them. Cats are scared of animals that are bigger than them. Unless a cat has been acclimatised to dogs since it was young, it's unlikely to deal well with them when it's an adult. They get set in their ways very fast and don't change much over the years.
(Heh, with normal cats even smaller types of dogs, like coyotes will hunt and kill them, because the cats just aren't used to that sort of thing)

I think you mean that you hate those “I'm a bad dog owner, I refuse to exercise foresight and be responsible for my dog's actions dem durp!” people :)

Some dogs do genuinely love cats (and vice versa) but it's usually the ones that have grown up together. My black kitty Zoe's “mommy” is my sister's boy dog, Grendel :)

Zoe: “Oh Grendel, I'm 8 years old but you're still my mommy! I love you so much, let me snuggle up here with you and lick you and lick you and I'm going to stick my face in your face I love youuuuu ^____^”

Grendel: “siiiiigh”

I have a picture here somewhere…

I feel trapped…I like this site, and it's ranking system, no other site compares…but at the same time DD sucks beyond all belief. No other site owner would let a site with this many users be unhappy with bugs for so long.

I know people are way sick of negativity on volte, but the only word suitable for how he's treated the site and people here is ‘prick’. -_-
