This seems like this has been trend for sometime among the youth here in urban Southern California but um…what's the deal with when someone calls your name or asks them a question, the response is, “What happened?” - Actually, that's the stock response for ANY question if the other person didn't hear you.

For instance:
Me, the teacher: “Jack is your worked finished?”

Jack: “What happened?”

-OR-

Me, the teacher: “Isabelle your missing pages out of Unit 7 in your economics packet”

Isabelle: “What happened?”

Its pretty interestinng when some of our teachers pick up that habit too.

I'm so glad I'm out of school and don't have to put up with that. Although I'm going into El Camino this year, hopefully this phase hasn't spread there. Hopefully it's just a phase.

so there I was, walking back from the bx (base exchange) when an f22's takes off. well it was cool…then I heard another one…so I flipped on my camera…well it got ready too late…then I hear another rev up. so I point my camera and shoot. took a second one as well. when I got back to my room I wanted to look at the pictures.but the f22's weren't in any of the photos

Jets flying are very hard to get a picture of, unless the camera is already up and you lead the plane as if you were gonna shoot it down. I used to get buzzed a lot when I was in the field. An F-16 or A-10 in a mock bombing run is a neat picture. Like I'm gonna shoot one down with that fifty cal on the cupola. ;)

John Lennon is dead.
So is George Harrison.
And Mitch Hedberg.
And debatably Paul McCartney.

Oh yeah, and I hardly have any family left. But I hated them all anyways. A**holes.
I live in a 9-month-winter, mosquito-ridden, god-forsaken, white trash city.
And my dad found my pipe. Yikes, that was awkward.

I'd imagine it was possible… amazingly difficult, but if you were really, really lucky… What would a stream of 12.7 mm bullets do to the baldes of a turbofan? :)

Extremely hard to hit the plane at all though. :(

Likely he didn't have a fast enough shutter speed too. You can lead the plane all you want, but unless your shutter speed is right and you're using a high enough ISO film you aren't likely to come out with anything more than a funny looking blur. It takes a lot of practice to get anything moving fast. I learned that trying to get some photo reference of cars for a short story I wanted to do.

And as long as we're on cameras, my trusty old Minolta XG-A just bit the big one. It's got a nasty light leak which will cost me $120 to repair. The only thing is, I can buy another camera body and two lenses ( Which I don't need any more lenses. ) for that much. Problem being with either route, the closest place to buy or repair my camera is in Chicago, almost 200 miles away.

I could, but this is a 30 year old camera we're talking about. Not only does the company who made it not exist any more, but it's incredibly hard to check the quality of a used camera over the internet and a lot of times they seem to conveniently forget little details like the leather wrapping falling off or the shutter needing major adjustment, which means it still has to be taken in to a repair shop. The last camera I bought to supplement my XG-A, I ended up having to get rid of almost as soon as I got it because it was in such crappy shape. There are places to buy old film cameras here, but they're exorbitantly expensive. About 1.5 times more expensive than anywhere else on average.

It's mostly that I'm on a tiny budget and I don't like the idea of buying a 30 year old camera, which is expensive to repair, without being able to see if it's in usable condition.

One of my comp's is doing that :(

I suspect it is the new ram though, rather than the motherboard. I'll take it out and see if that helps. STill… that's wasted ram I can't use anywhere else now. Grr! Could be the Motherboard though. That damn comp has gone through one already, 2 power systems, and two video cards… And one processor fan!

Ugh… I think I'll just get a laptop for my bedroom PC… It's not like a I the power of a desktop there.

I thought it was one of the RAM sticks, but the IT specialist found the same errors in the same spot at the same time in every stick, which he said is 99% impossible to occur if it isn't the motherboard doing it.

in respects for everyone talking about the f22 moving fast, it was moving realitivly slow as it was on take off. also I adjusted ahead for slow shutter speed and all.

also, I was in hennasy bar on fremont st. (the orignal casino street in vegas) and this three person band was playing. spectacular by the way. the guitarist looked like wayne from static x. when they gave their names when they were playing he said one name. but when I was talking to him on one of their breaks, he introduced himself as wayne. coincidence???????

You should have asked him what “Otsego” means. ^_^ if he looked at you cluelessly mayhaps it wouldn't have been him.
Or maybe he's also a Skrull!

okay time for me to rant with my own material. My wrist is killing me, and I'm only a quarter done with my next comic and it is horribly stuffy in my workroom! Drawing with the brace on is cumbersome and the callous on my middle finger from drawing is throbbing and has turned red, I daresay it's becoming a blister, so it's being cushioned with a Hello-Kitty bandaid (if I gotta have a bandaid it may as well be a cute one) and a wad of cotton because the work must go on! (Except for this rant break to relieve my hand for a bit!) Warm weather is a mixed blessing because whilst I loathe the cold, my wrist hurts the most in the summer, which is when it started hurting to begin with and if I knew what the problem was I'd probably feel better about it. It sucks to be in pain and not know why (and we spent a fair deal of money to find out nothing about it)And on the rare occasion I bring it up, people dismiss me as “making excuses so no one criticizes” my art! I have excuses for why my comic is late, but never for why the art is weak. And I found out my digital coloring methods kinda suck lately too, I think it's because I'm starting to enjoy markers more and becoming disenchanted with digital methods. I'm also getting coloring envy!
I want to play with my ferret, but I can't trust him not to poop on my stuff! The other ferret is litter-trained, but this one seems downright determined to go wherever he pleases. He also doesn't believe in gravity. How can he be a proper minion if he can't even perch on my shoulder? Again, the other one does, but that's because she's smart too. And stinks less! (but they're both equally cute)

As for computer stuff, we are in debt because we helped out a guy to get rid of one of his computers while he was moving away and he promised us 4 gigs (which is what sold us on it because I needed a new work computer) and then held out on 2 of them. My current computer has 2, it defeated the point of us buying this computer when we had to borrow money from our parents to buy it! We've been eating ramen noodles for dinner, for goodness sakes! He said he'd order us some more, but why not order them for himself and give us the ones he promised? It's so frustrating!

And that's it(but not all I have)for now. Venting about the petty stuff kinda lets me forget the bigger stuff.

If it's a Windows machine, and it's a normal 32 bit operating system your comp can only really use 3 gigs anyway. :(
Windows reserves the rest of the memory space for the ram on video cards and whatever else.

No. 32-bit architecture can't address more than 3.34gb of RAM. On a Mac, PC or otherwise.

Also, killersteak is a retard.

It's 2:20a.m.
I'm seriously thinking about waking my mom up and having her make me a hamburger.

I just stayed awake from 24hrs straight after getting my first laptop(fast but hurts my head) and I took medicine for my toothache and forgot my skinny ass can't handle anything more than ibuprofen. so that gave me he headache of a lifetime.
I'm still ‘filtering’ it out now…

Also TDishness keeps seeping into the normal forums.

Yesterday I stood in gale force winds and rain from 7 till 5, then got to come home to find out my dog had gone to the bathroom all over the kitchen floor because nobody let her out before they left, then I got to sit around without anything to do in an empty house for 5 hours because everyone in my family is out of town and the power was off.

Today I worked in gale force winds and ran from 7 to 1 then got to stand inside for an hour dripping and shivering until I finally convinced them to let me go home. I get home and start getting stuff ready for someone to come over and help me photograph a sculpture I'm putting in my portfolio that I've been working on for weeks and I need to submit to scholarships and galleries soon. They were supposed to show up at three and five hours later they weren't there. So I head to the grocery store to get some stuff for dinner hoping to make my mood better with a decent meal. I go in, get a steak and some stuff to make dinner with, chat with a couple of people I know from school and I'm starting to feel a little better. A couple minutes later I'm heading out of the store, and a extremely drunk fellow decides to try and help me with a few words of advice about something I couldn't understand. When I walk by him, not really paying attention, thinking about dinner, he gets mad and decides to throw his cup of crappy beer at the back of my head. Rather than start a fight and make my day worse, I just get into my car and left. I get home and try to wash it off with a shower but it just won't come out and my clothes are pretty much ruined too.

So now, I've been soaked to the point of catching a cold, still don't have a portfolio of work I can send out, and I smell like cheap stale beer and I still have nothing to do with myself.

What a great vacation / break from the family and work this weekend has been.

So I finally got home from University about two weeks ago. I quite enjoyed my time there, if I ignore how I now instinctively sneak around everywhere because the jackass who was next door to me started screaming and banging on the wall every time I so much as got out of my chair, and how I now twitch violently whenever someone knocks on a door, and the way I can no longer sleep without the sound of a thousand drunken retards marching outside my window.

On the bright side though, my hearing just inexplicably fixed itself, so now every conversation I have doesn't end up with me saying ‘what?’ until the other person gives up.
Hey buddy, you should be a Russian Cosmonaut, and here's why.

MOTHERFUCKING TECH JOURNALISTS.

Okay, so at All Things Digital, there was a very brief demo of the multitouch integration that's being put into Windows 7 by Microsoft. Well great, touchscreens. Multitouch doesn't really have a lot of native integration in operating systems save for things like the iPhone/iPod touch/Apple stuff. Of course, there are a lot of idiot journalists who are taking it to mean the following:

1. Windows 7 will only use touchscreens! YOU CAN NEVER USE A KEYBOARD/MOUSE AGAIN!
- Er… no. These sort of things append the interface and offer up certain other opportunities. For example, POS terminals nowadays do make heavy use of touchscreens. Hell, I see one used almost everyday now. By doing this, Microsoft stands to open up a fairly large chunk of market to themselves. Don't even get me started on netbooks and ultraportables. By allowing native touchscreen support and making the kernel more modular, Windows stands to be a huge force in the ultraportable market. Why? Touchscreens allow for a smaller device size AND remove the need for keyboard and touchpad fabrication. This is a GOOD feature, and the only one we know for certain, having seen it, exists.

2. Microsoft stole this from Apple!
- Now you're being retarded. Apple did not invent multitouch, despite what you may think. The technology itself borders on being 25 years old. Of course, that's no huge decider. But Microsoft Surface is. Microsoft had been developing Surface as a product since 2004, and I think published a whitepaper (which I may have in PDF at home) about multitouch integration a few years earlier. Keep in mind this was all 3 years before the iPhone was even announced.

3. This feature is SOOOO BLOATED RARRRRRGH!
- About as bloated as keyboard and mouse input is. Are you fucking retarded?

4. Windows 7 is going to be just like Vista! Look, it even has the same interface!
- I'd ALMOST let this one slide. Almost. But then I realised, “Oh wait, Vista looked like XP in it's first beta shots. And XP looks like 98! It's almost like they save integrating the interface design until the product is in a mostly stable state!” I mean really, how much does it take to become a tech journalist now? I'm pretty sure you just need to be able to pick a computer out of a lineup.

5. Windows 7 is going to require even MORE resources!
- Okay, first off, shut up. It's natural to assume that, yes, future technology will require more power than older tech. Vista has some serious problems on older machines, that's no doubt, and Vista did take a few too many liberties with how much power it required. But Windows 7 is said to have the same system requirements and Vista does now and is to offer better performance. And it's coming out in 2010. It is hardly unreasonable to assume that a computer with the following specs won't be commonplace by 2010:

1GHz processor
1GB of system memory
15GB of available space
Support for DirectX 9 graphics
DVD-ROM drive
Internet access

And that's the recommended requirements for Ultimate. Really, this isn't a huge thing.

6. Why don't you just fix Vista instead?
- They ARE fixing Vista! THAT'S WHAT THE LAST FUCKING SERVICE PACK WAS. That whole service pack that was rolled out to include kernel changes to allow for things like, oh I don't know, updates that don't require reboots and fixes a lot of the security issues. Vista is being fixed, but the damage is done, so it isn't being picked up like XP was after it started getting fixed. Vista is basically Windows ME all over again, which is a shame. The main difference being that Vista isn't nearly as crash happy.

7. WHAT DO YOU MEAN IT WON'T RUN LEGACY APPS NATIVELY? RAAAARRRGH!
- Oh my god, are you the same person who was complaining about bloat? You're lucky that they're even including desktop virtualisation options to run XP and older apps. If Windows continues to hold onto legacy support in the kernel, you're going to run into even more bloaty transitory issues. I mean shit, if there's one thing I'd like to see gone from Windows forever, it's going to be reliance on the fucking registry. That's one of the things that kept being shoved down our throats so some of you jackasses could continue to run old shit. That thing has been around since 1998 and has long since served it's purpose. There are far better ways to handle INI massacres now.

Some of these dickhats claim to have been working in the tech industry for decades, and maybe that's part of the problem. I read this one guy ranting about how computers are still as hard to use as they were 40 years ago when he was using punchcards and he was being completely sincere. It seems that tech journalism has reached a point where new blood is DESPERATELY required. People who get how technology is now and don't have this rose tinted goggle syndrome of how things were “better back then” because I sure as hell won't go back to entering shit on a punchcard into giant, room filling furnaces, comrade.

I mean, really people. The product isn't even coming out for two years, it's still in the earliest stages of beta. Just… shut up.

It's interesting. I wonder how much of it is just pandering to perceived wisdom. I like to use the Google homepage for my news, but today I noticed that almost every single headline in the tech section was about the upcoming 3G iphone, as well as one in the ordinary news headline section!
These are sourced from online newspaper everywhere and normally there NEVER more than one headline about the same story, unless it's something REALLY, REALLY important… And yet this thing with crappy speculation of Apple's new gimick?

No wonder their products tend to take off… Lotta support from the press there.

That's a good example… HP bring out one of those ultra thin laptops, and suddenly they're doing it to “compete with Apple's distinctive Mac Book Air”.
HA! F**king imbeciles! Apple was a late comer with a dodgy entry to THAT particular market, it didn't even impress Apple fanboys. And HP would have had to have been developing this thing before Apple ever came out with their thing. This is just basic stuff here, and yet it suits them to set it up in Vs the Mac format.

Just like every new smartphone is an attempted “iphone killer” that just doesn't manage it…

It's like they were in the pay of Apple or something. ~_~
