Sorry to hear that, usually when people do that they're running away from something. It's sad and quite frankly, pathetic, but i've known plenty of alcoholics in my life and it's always either;
Messed up past
Hate family
Hate the person they became.

@freefall_drift - something to ask yourself:
“Who is gonna benefit if you believe in that? What will happen to me if I believe in that?”
These radio stations can be fear mongers. Its really good to double-check the information. But sometimes, double-checking the info makes it even scarier. Alex Jones predicted 9-11. Alex Jones predicted all these increases in the oil price per barrel. Alex Jones had the guts to cover Bilderberg 2008. Alex Jones isn't perfect and there are things I disagree with him on. But he sure has more credibility than mainstream media.

@SarahN - if I were you I'd put that in a comic. Seriously. Some of the stuff I put out in my comics are based on actual events (though exaggerated anywhere from 10 - 200% for entertainment value). Its a stress reliever. Trust me. God knows what I could have done if I didnt have webcomics as an outlet. :( But if ever you feel ashamed of putting that shit out here for fear that some know-it-all jerkoff might diss you for it, just pm me ok. I can take it.

@Skullbie - most often, alcoholics chug that stuff down because they think they're trying to solve a problem. Face it. Alcohol gives you that temporary “high” feeling where your inhibitions are completely gone. Where you cease to think rationally and just feel like laughing for no reason. The temporary laughter makes you feel good. And the alcoholic makes the mistake that the more alcohol they drink, the better they'd feel.

But here's the thing. When I take 2-3 shots I feel elated and happy. 4-5 I'm kinda losing it. More than that I just wanna cry for no reason. Alcohol messes up your brain. Now I understand why the Muslims banned it. I'm staying away from that shit. No more destroyers of my body. :)

That's because Alcohol is a depressant :)

Ha, Alcohol never depresses me. I'm just happy and… wobbly. Emotionally it doesn't do much, unless it adds bubbliness to my happiness :)

The next day is the reason I don't drink much. Hangovers are bad enough without them triggering my migraines. No thanks. -_-

the last time i drank was in vegas. i drank 3/4 of a bottle of jack. (from what i heard, nearly 1/2 was straight jack as i didnt mix it with coke like i normally do) i had to work the next day. i may have gotten 12 hours of sleep (or 15 hours of time that i dont remember) but the next day wasnt worth it. especially with my job. it made me so sick, that i havent drank since june 2. at all….

I'm honestly kind of afraid of alcohol. I don't know if alcoholism can run in your family, but it seems like mine has had more than its fair share of alcoholics. Two uncles, my grandfather, my grandma(rip), a couple of my mom's cousins, and it seems like it's starting all over again with the next generation of our family. It just freaks me out that I won't be able to keep it from happening to myself.

Doesn't matter how many times he's confronted or how close he is to death. He's got to admit he has a problem and needs help.

I know too many alcoholics in recovery for my own good and that's where recovery begins, if not it's liver failure like my father-in-law.

As for me I'm a beer connoissieur and since it's liquid bread, I get full before I get drunk. I like to watch the others get shit-faced, help them to the bathroom so they puke their guts out, then call them a cab, help them stagger aboard and get them home.

Yes alchoholism can run in the family in the sense that your particularly family biology will effect both how strongly it effects you and now easy it is for you to become addicted. So your fears are justified, if you family is easily addicted you might share that trait. Still if you don't drink or drink very, very little then you still won't become an alcoholic obviously.

Although there are no alcoholics in my family I share a similar fear myself and thusly do not drink.

Thanks for telling me. :)
Obviously it's kind of a hard thing to ask about, and I don't really like bringing up the problems in my extended family to my immediate family. It's nice to know that I'm not just being paranoid.

Really long Rant about how i hate spiders but they like me:

skullbie v.s brown recluse wannabe:
I was in my room and i walked over to my dresser, then this HUGE brown spider crawled out the back and was all 'Hay wuts goin' on?! :D' and i was like 'AAAAAAAAAH!!!' and smacked it with a shoe.

I was gonna get my poison when all the sudden a little baby spider crawled out and was all 'mommy?!?! D:' and i was all 'AAAAAAAAH!!' and smacked it with my shoe.

So THEN i went to get my poison, black flag. :) it paralyzes on contact! then slooooowly gives them death over a course of 5-15 minutes which means the black flag corp hates bugs as much as I.

skullbie and black flag v.s nosey black widow:
My number three fear is black widows, they suck and give me childhood flashbacks. D:<

I was out on the front porch and noticed this weird web spun inside the holes of the wooden posts. I peeked inside and there was this HUGE black widow that turned around really fast and was all 'WAT BITCH?!' and i was all ‘eep…’. I peeked into the hole from the other side and she was all 'U WANNA GO WHITEY!?' so i sprayed it with black flag till the hole foamed out the other end. D<

What I thought was interesting was in the post hole above the widow the was a male widow- He dead though. :x

maybe i should illustrate these two storys…

I like spiders, they are great.

- - - - -

On the subject of alcohol, I tend to swing between hating it and loving it for no reason that's clear to me. When I get drunk, I'm. . . pretty much the same, except louder because I feel it's expected. I wondered if that's the reason people act like prats while pissed, or if I'm just not drinking enough.

i hate spiders…i was house hunting today and alot of the houses hadn't been lived in in a while…and there were spider webs everywhere…and i kept waling into them…/..eeehhhhehehhehehe(not a laugh)

also, my wife's favorite choice from the internet, is last place among anyone in life who can choose not to live there…yuck…there was a sinkhole in the front yard, and you could feel the whole house leaning to the left…also, some of the window's were broken..(more than likely to be broken into, as most were by the locks on the windows)..we looked for about 2 minutes and then we were out…

sigh, only 2 were even worth considering…

Well, I'm looking to find some halls to stay in for Uni this week, so now I'm full of paranoia about spiders.

Also, the fact that hundreds of students have lived there before hand. I'd rather not think what's probably hiding in the bathroom.

I love spiders! I would catch them and let them crawl all over my arms and dangle them above my face and play with them. But not brown recluse! I hate those freaking bastards! They're mean jerk-offs! Grrrrr! Smash them Skullbie, or they'll kill you! But don't hurt the friendly ones, they just want to love you.

But yeah, black widows are kind of messed up. I'm not a fan of them. They're scary at times.

@Skullbie: please illustrate.

I had a pet tarantula, but I was always afraid that if I picked it up I would accidentally drop it and it would crack open like an egg. So I only pet it.

I like spiders.

I just remembered, at school a couple of years ago, someone picked up a very large spider (a very large spider) on a stick and chased some girl with it. It was right after lunch when everyone was on their way to their next class. While bringing the spider back, they accidentally dropped it on the ground and everyone freaked out. Some people wanted to kill it, but a bunch of other people didn't want it to die. After about ten seconds of discord, I walked up, scooped up the spider in my hand, looked at it, and put it in some plants. Then I turned around and saw about three dozen more people than I thought were there and they stared at me as if I had just survived a 12-story fall. Then everyone started to say “Arashi_san, you're so brave!” and I turned red and laughed and walked into my classroom.

Something similar to that happened to me, except with a garter snake, and I was at camp with my school.
I don't particularly like spiders, but they don't freak me out. I do like snakes, though.

I don't like spiders or bugs too much. But I don't hate them. If they are in the same room, I usually let them live, but if they crawl on me, then no.

My brother, though, HATES spiders, and our house is filled with bugs and spiders, so he keeps a driver (the golf club, not a person) in his room to kill them with.
It is effective and comedic :D.

Normally, i try to save spiders. But one time when I was a kid I opened a bag of red grapes, only to find a spider with red markings on it. Convinced it was a super deadly jungle spider that somehow survived the trip here, i smashed it down the sink; all while shrieking. i smashed it for a good 20 minutes >:3

On the topic of bread gone wrong, the other day I forgot to get my mom's bread out of the breadmaker when the beeper went(had my headphones on), and when I finally remembered it I couldn't get it out of the case thing it gets baked in, so I shook it violently upside down, which broke it when it finally came out. Then I knocked a heavy clay vase full of kitchen stuff onto it, crushing a portion of the bread.

This is why I don't cook.

And somehow, I've yet to be bit by a spider despite the many that I've had crawling all over me. I know which to handle and which not to handle, so I'm not worried about potent venom entering my veins and killing me.

I know what you mean, especially with an art like Taekwando. I do Aikido and Shinkendo. Aikido is much more subtle and requires less of a conspicuous practice (not much kiai-ing/yelling and no big punches or kicks). I don't expect people to recognize what I'm doing, and sometimes it may look a little silly, but I'm okay with it.

And with Shinkendo, which is a sword martial art with the katana, people usually seem to think it's really cool when I practice in a park. The only concern that I have is that the cops will come and harass me. So far, any officers I've ran into just told me not to make any trouble or cut anyone. Though I would never practice with a metal sword (only use a bokken, a wooden sword!).
Especially when I do fluid material, people sometimes watch and think it's really cool.
