Grow up at your own pace. I was forced to grow up quick as a teenager and it wasn't until my twenties I learned to chill and have fun.

Speaking of, well, adult things, I think I need to do something to make myself feel like a grown-up. I've no interest in alcohol though, so I don't know.
Why do you feel the need to do feel grown up, Hippie? I'm curious.
Just because I'm very recently a legal “adult”.
But I don't really feel like one…not that I feel like a child, either. Not uncommon, I'm sure, but confusing.
Yeah, I remember that… You're half and half, not sure if you're properly an adult or still a kid. You know that feeling can last years sometimes? :)

Just go with it. Generally it depends on the setting- if you've got parental support or you're in university or collage, or just hanging around with a lot of friends, then you can be pretty kiddish and it's fun, acceptable and practical…
But if you're working professionally or have a lot of responsibility then you'll have to grown up :(

So if you can, try and eke out the kiddishness as long as you can. You have the freedom to do so now and you can't really go back- Being an adult is a one way street. Sure you can still play with toys, like cartoons and be silly, but it's just not the same and you don't enjoy that stuff as much as you used to anyway.

I just had a real and massive knot in my hair >.<
I brush it out every fricken day, wash it regularly, plait it up neatly every day before work… and yet this nasty knot got in!

It was pretty serious too. Took me a while to unknot the whole lot, I thought I might have to cut it. At the root of the beast was a bit of a dustbunny! Bloody fuzzy crap… Must have gotten onto my hair brush, then to my hair and then it got plaited up with the rest of my hair, all the time lying in wait to catch me.

A few months shy of 30 and still I totally don't feel like an “adult”. I'm starting to think I never will. My fault for eschewing the whole career, marriage, family, etc. plan I reckon. Other than my student loans, I have no real “responsibilities”. Unless you count somehow managing to not wind up a homeless street crazy a responsibility. And that one's been quite the challenge.

You just reminded me how much I am NOT looking forward to washing my hair today. But it;s time. You don't wanna know how long it's been since the last time I brushed it out. It's kinda one big massive knot right now.

“Grown up” can mean different things. I like to think of it as a process of “growing into yourself”. So the more goals you make for yourself that you achieve to YOUR satisfaction, the more grown into yourself you are, the more grown up.

It's my rationale of why some people never feel grown up — they might well be very successful in the eyes of others, uber over-achievers, but if they are not satisfying themselves, the feeling of being grown up can escape them. It's also why relatively young people can seem so poised and mature. They have a sense of who they are and they work with what they've got, and achieve some amazing stuff.

Then there's just feeling old, which is NOT the same as feeling grown up. There's definitely some days I do (because, well, I am), but most of the time I'm shocked at how old I am, I usually don't feel it, and so much of my life is still very alive for me.

creamy peanut butter really does work for getting out hair knots — but not for avoiding shampoos *sigh*

And DIDN'T fail my Chem final.

And now have to learn tuba and try to run a mafia game.

…yes…that's all I'm looking forward to this summer…

Well, I survived my 3-hour plane trip as a dad with three small children in my move from Texas to Florida to finally get us back to my wife who moved ahead of us to start her new job as a college professor. I am now unfortunately unemployed, but on the bright side perhaps I can do some freelance work and maybe have some more time to do comics.

Went to the school musical last night. I'm not really into musicals, singing in excessive amounts pisses me off. But I went last night to see my best friend preform, and support her and give her thumbs up from the crowd.

Oh. My. God.

She was amazing. I never realised how talented she was as a singer until last night. She absolutely stole the show from the lead girl (who is an enemy of mine, and I laughed at throughout the entire thing) Alex (my buddy) really was amazing. My mum was absolutely beside herself when Alex sang River Deep and Mountain High. Same goes for another boy who I never thought could sing, but he jumped up from the pit where all the muscians were dressed as one of the guys from Herman's Hermits, and sang.

After the show ended, I ran back stage to find Alex and congradulate her, all the pissy little dancer girls in their cequin dresses were like: “OMG YOU'RE NOT ALLOWED BACK HERE, YOU'RE GONNA GET IN TROUBLE!” to which my answer was: “Whatever.” I found Alex, hugged her and in a very loud voice in front of the girl I really dispise and needed to be taken down a peg, “You were fantastic! You completely stole the show Alex!” The other cast members all agreed and hugged Alex too, while the girl I dispised crossed her arms huatily and went “HUMPH!”

——–

Fugly is doing well! He's standing up now, (partially) and is now completely on solid foods. He's really noisy, and whenever me and mum come into the study he chirps really loudly to get our attention and make us pick him up. He's still got some of his baby feathers, but he's turning into a grown up pigeon now. :D

Happy Birthday in advance, Skullbie! I hope you get that trip you want! :)

———

Got another comic idea I want to try playing with, but it sounds so… well… like it's something that doesn't happen IRL. It involves a male high school student who keeps being bullied in the various public and private coedhigh schools he's been assigned to. As a last resort to help him with his education (and thanks to his rich but deceased parents money isn't a problem) he's whisked away to an all girls school where the Director of the school and several of the students help him… by disgusing him as a girl! Now he has to go in public as a girl to prevent the bullies who have been harassing him from finding him (they've been transferring to every school he's been going to in order to keep up the harassment). You can imagine what a boy disguised as a girl has to go through…

Could make for a Visual Novel as well… :)

———

So finally the pigeon is walking? Who knows… maybe one day it will fly away. Maybe… :)

That reminds me of back in my art school days… well after I graduated anyway and was doing doing art. I just stopped brushing my hair… And the longer I left it the more afraid I got of actually attempting to deal with it.
So after some weeks went by my fear of dealing with the tangled mess was overrun by the fear that I might have to cut it all off if I left it even longer.

So I attacked it with a lot of washing and a couple of handfuls of conditioner and it came out ok in the end. Only had to cut out two knots, which was way better than I'd feared. :)
I think your hair has tighter curls than mine though so it'd probably be harder to deal with.

I honestly don't get the point of pre ordering games. I really don't.
I pre ordered Portal 2, I got it I think 2 days after the global Steam release.
I pre ordered OOT 3D, happy that it's coming out on the 17th for the UK, whereas it's the 19th of the US.
It didn't come yesterday, or today. It can't come tomorrow which means not only do I get it after everyone who didn't pre order it, I also get it after every American who didn't pre order it.
This is great, absolutely fucking great.

Here's an idea for every game site. Add this huge disclaimer over every page.
“WARNING, by pre ordering this game, you acknowledge we won't really give a shit about sending it to you; we may forget about it for months. Even then, we'll just send an 80 year old man to hand deliver it. (That will cost extra)”

I also told my friends that yesterday, one of the responses was “I have OOT 3D, u mad?”
I mean really, what the fuck? Fuck him.

I'm gonna end this now because I could honestly make a rant longer than all the posts on this page put together.
I'm not really around much anymore, but here's my Tumblr, Twitter, and Deviantart. Also if you remember me from back when I was around, I'm sorry.

I honestly don't get the point of pre ordering games. I really don't.
That reminds me of when I still used to got to bookshops to buy new books and CD ships to by new CDs-
If they didn't have a CD or book they'd helpfully offer to “order it in” for you.
So after a while when it never seems to come and you get no info you go in and they say “what order?”. If you ever DO get it, it'll take a couple of months.
That's not an isolated experience either… One time I ordered a CD and after coming in every week for a month or two and asking about it, the moron shop owner finally found it and gave it to me- turned out he'd had it for a couple of weeks, he just didn't recognise the cover… T_T

Thank the gods for the internet. Buying through the net isn't without issues, but I've had almost none compared to problems I've had buying stuff in person- not just CDs, DVDs and books either- but also clothes, computers TVs etc.
-
Anyway, I generally don't think you should bother with pre-ordering unless stock will be limited or there'll be special content because the main point of it is that it just guarantees them a sale before they've even got the stock, so they don't feel obligated or moved to give you any extra service after the fact.

I've had similar experiences.

As fir preordering, it only really benefits shops as it helps them work out what they need to get in and (in their ideal world) guarantees a sale. Only worth it if they are guaranteeing you get a hot product or if there is a good offer for pre-ordering.

Safe to say i almost never pre order anything, I tend to wait until prices drop.

Moving house on the first of august, going to be very busy in the meantime. Still be worth it to actually have a garden and more bedrooms.

It only took about thirty minutes to get the knots out of my hair this time. I'm always really shocked out how long it is when it's brushed out and wet. Almost down to the small of my back. It loses about six inches when it curls up, and then gets progressively shorter the more it starts to dread and knot. of course I never wear it down, ever, so not like it matters. I go for tallness in hair, not length.

I preordered a cd a few weeks ago. Mostly I buy all my music in digital form but I was too excited about this one. It arrived on the release date, so I guess it was the same difference if I would have waited for it to be released and then bought it through itunes or something. Unfortunately i can't count on being able to find all the stuff I like in that form. A lot of times I still have to order cds or records straight from the distributor or record company, or off ebay or whatever for out of print junk.

i googled chuffed and got “(of a steam engine) Move with a regular sharp puffing sound.” i have no idea how to relate this to music….unless it was dubstep..

Everything i preorder i get “special edition”. except portal 2. but then they let me download it early, and when the release date “happened” they unlocked it and everyone could play.

As far as music, there was a band that i ripped onto my original xbox, and somewhere along the line i lost the Disc. I didn't see it for years, and one day the band came to town, and i took all my cash to buy up their albums…They said “unfortunately, those are out of production”
At the end of the concert the lead singer came up and handed me 3 burnt discs, with all their music including an album that they produced by themselves in their garage before they even made a demo for companies. It's my happiest concert OF ALL TIME.

Ugh, can't find a music player that I like. iTunes never fails to to make me incredibly frustrated. I've always been happy with Windows Media Player, but since I got Windows 7 for whatever reason it's been acting up. It doesn't like me to add songs to the library.
All I want is something that looks organized, shows album art and lets me easily edit song and album information. But so far nothing has all that.
