For the sake of getting more eyeballs on my comics, i tried uploading some of my stuff to mainstream webcomic site webtoons. Took barely a day before it got flagged for “inappropriate content”.
I set all the content warnings too maximum btw, i clearly rated it as an adult series. Still too extreme! I only tried it in the first place cause there are some series on webtoons that are comparable in content to my own stuff. Violence & naked skin and all.
I'm sure i could make it tamer by altering the “inappropriate” scenes in question. But i'd rather saw off my own foot than censor myself, so no. Not happening. If i have to censor my art than it isn't my art anymore.
In short: Fuck da mainstream. Fuck puritanism. Fuck ad-friendly content.

Yeah mainstream media tends to censor itself and smaller creators to appeal to advertisers and crap, but you shouldn't sacrifice your creative freedom for some chump change and few more views :o(

In the previous comic I drew there was an extended part in which there were many slaves who were forced to build a ziqqurat.
Male slaves were naked but for a sort of fundoshi, female slaves had a longer dress but were still boobs out.
Although there was nothing sexual in the scenes, webtoons totally blocked my comic; I could go on publishing on Tapas because on Tapas you can mark the single page as “mature” and go on publishing, so it is a bit better.
I'm still mirroring on tapas, though I have few to no readers there, my main sites are here and Comic Fury.

You can't talk to them, and state your case? If you already tried, forget I spoke.

That's odd, considering I find there is already too much of that sort of content in mainstream as it is . . . or, perhaps we have different ideas/definitions of what mainstream is?

I might try my luck on Tapas, worst thing that happens is that i wasted a day uploading stuff there before it gets pulled anyway. *shrug*

Stay true to yourself. Self censor when you think you should but never to fit into another's idea of what is exceptable.

Webtoons is like plain unflavored Ramen. Sometimes there's that flavor packet but it's usually very salty and nothing else. The Duck is adding hot sauce and/or curry. A few comics here have a fried egg on top. Can't find that on Webtoons.

Some of Mindfold is up on Webtoons, and that has partial nudity in it. So far, it hasn’t been taken down. Maybe that’s just because it has so few views that it slipped under the radar.

It’s all about staying true to your art. No point in censoring just to fit into a platform’s standards. Tapas might be a good shot, at least you can mark things as mature and keep your creative freedom.

If you're looking to just expand out in general Fables.pro is a pretty great platform to mirror on, it's still small but it's growing and is very focused on accommodating creators. It's run by the same guys who run Top Web Comics who are active in the community and take our input seriously. It's a really nice welcoming community and has a whole section for adult comics called Fables X. Like I said it's still small but it's a more DD like atmosphere than Tapas or Webtoons.

I spent a little while trying to create an account. First it's told me I'm a robot yet there is no capcha so I don't know how that works.. Then it said my user name was taken, doubt it. Then it have me some other excuse and I gave up
